Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the key liaison between business stakeholders, data teams and technology teams to deliver data lakehouse initiatives.
  • Gather, elicit and analyse business requirements for enterprise data, reporting, analytics and data platform initiatives.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed functional requirements, data requirements, data flows and business rules.
  • Work with data engineers, solution architects and technical teams to define data ingestion, transformation, storage and consumption requirements.
  • Analyse and document as-is and to-be data flows, including data sources, mappings, transformations, business logic and downstream consumption.
  • Define data requirements for structured and unstructured data across multiple business functions and source systems.
  • Support the design and implementation of Data Lakehouse architecture and data products, ensuring solutions meet business and operational requirements.
  • Work with stakeholders to define data quality, reconciliation, validation and governance rules.
  • Perform data analysis and profiling using SQL to validate requirements, investigate data issues and identify gaps or inconsistencies.
  • Develop and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Specifications, data mapping documents, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely with data engineering teams throughout development, SIT, UAT and production implementation.
  • Review technical solutions and data models to ensure alignment with business requirements and expected outcomes.
  • Support data migration, integration and transformation activities, including source-to-target mapping and reconciliation.
  • Identify and manage requirements-related risks, issues, dependencies and scope changes.
  • Coordinate with multiple business and technology stakeholders to resolve data issues and ensure timely delivery.
  • Support UAT planning, test case review, defect management and business sign-off.
  • Ensure data solutions comply with relevant data governance, security, privacy, regulatory and banking requirements.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst / Functional Business Analyst, preferably within banking or financial services.
  • Proven experience working on Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Data Lakehouse or enterprise data platform initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data flows, data integration, data transformation and data lifecycle management.
  • Experience translating complex business requirements into functional requirements and data specifications.
  • Strong hands-on SQL skills with the ability to perform data analysis, validation, reconciliation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with source-to-target mapping, data lineage, data modelling and data quality concepts.
  • Good understanding of data ingestion and integration patterns, including ETL/ELT, APIs, batch processing and real-time data integration.
  • Experience working with data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Cloudera, Hadoop or similar technologies.
  • Experience working with Data Lakehouse architecture, including concepts such as data layers, medallion architecture and data products, is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience producing BRD, functional specifications, user stories, data mapping and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience supporting SIT/UAT, data migration, reconciliation and production implementation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across business, data engineering, architecture, technology and operations teams.
  • Good understanding of data governance, data quality, data security and regulatory requirements within financial services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex data issues and translate findings into practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data and technical concepts to both business and technology stakeholders.
  • Experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery environments is an advantage.
  • Exposure to Python, Power BI/Tableau, cloud platforms or data visualisation tools is an advantage.
