The posting

Our client is a global investment platform with a growing public markets asset management business across APAC. They are hiring a Finance Director / CFO, Public Markets to lead the regional finance function from Singapore, supporting senior stakeholders across fund finance, reporting, governance, controls, and business partnering.

This is a newly created senior finance leadership role within a lean and growing platform. The role would suit someone hands-on, commercially minded, and looking to step into broader regional ownership across Singapore, Hong Kong, and China.

Responsibilities for the Finance Director / CFO - Public Markets:

  • Lead and own the finance function for the APAC public markets business, covering Singapore, Hong Kong, and China
  • Act as the senior finance partner locally, supporting senior stakeholders and the investment team across finance, reporting, governance, and business planning matters
  • Manage and develop a lean finance team, with scope to build out the function as the platform continues to grow
  • Oversee fund finance operations, including NAV oversight, valuation governance, investor reporting, management reporting, and financial controls
  • Coordinate closely with fund administrators, auditors, advisors, and external service providers to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Oversee audits, regulatory reporting, compliance-related finance processes, and internal control frameworks
  • Strengthen finance processes, documentation, and governance standards as the business scales across the region
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across the investment platform to support portfolio oversight, operational execution, and longer-term planning
  • Provide commercial input on fund structures, scalability, operational improvements, and finance-related business decisions
  • Communicate financial matters clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders in a senior, practical, and commercially relevant manner

Requirements for the Finance Director / CFO - Public Markets:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics or a related field
  • Around 9 to 12 years of relevant finance experience, ideally within asset management, hedge funds, family offices, public markets platforms or investment environments
  • Strong hands-on finance background across fund finance, controllership, financial reporting, audits, controls, and external service provider management
  • Prior experience working with fund administrators, auditors, advisors, investors, and senior internal stakeholders
  • Exposure to public markets, open-ended fund structures, equities, multi-asset strategies or investment platforms would be preferred
  • Experience operating across APAC or multi-jurisdictional environments would be advantageous
  • Big 4 to buy-side backgrounds, or finance professionals from investment platforms with strong operational finance exposure, would be well aligned
  • Mandarin capability would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and investment teams
  • Hands-on, pragmatic, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a lean environment with broad ownership
  • Commercially minded, detail-oriented, and motivated by long-term platform building rather than title alone

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
