About the Role

We are seeking a versatile and highly skilled Software Engineer to join the Facilities Experience (FX) Platform team. In this role, you will design, develop, deploy, and maintain modern web applications and integrations that support Facilities Management and Smart District operations.

You will work closely with product managers, service designers, technical leads, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable digital solutions that integrate with the FX Platform ecosystem. The ideal candidate has strong experience in full stack development, API integration, Azure cloud services, and modern DevOps practices, with a keen interest in creating intuitive user experiences and solving complex business problems.

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Application Development

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain modern web applications using contemporary frontend and backend technologies.
  • Build highly responsive and user-friendly interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks such as React.
  • Develop scalable backend services and microservices using Java and/or TypeScript (Node.js).
  • Design, build, and maintain REST APIs to support application functionality and system integration.
  • Ensure applications are secure, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise development standards.

System Integration & Data Services

  • Develop and maintain integrations between the FX Platform and enterprise systems through APIs, messaging services, and data services.
  • Implement event-driven integrations using messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, or similar platforms.
  • Support data exchange, synchronisation, and workflow integration across multiple applications and business domains.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cross-system integration issues, ensuring reliable and efficient operations.
  • Work with shared platform services such as authentication, notifications, workflow, scheduling, and common APIs.

Cloud Engineering & DevOps

  • Deploy and maintain cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
  • Support containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Work with Azure services including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), API Management (APIM), Application Gateway, and Azure Key Vault.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines to automate build, testing, deployment, and release processes.
  • Maintain source code repositories and development workflows using GitLab.

Security & Reliability

  • Implement secure coding practices and enterprise security controls.
  • Manage security configurations including TLS certificates, secrets management, and authentication mechanisms.
  • Monitor application performance, reliability, and operational health.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.

Product Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with product managers, service designers, technical leads, and business stakeholders to understand business workflows and user needs.
  • Participate in discovery, solution design, prototyping, and implementation activities.
  • Translate business requirements into well-designed technical solutions.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, technical reviews, and release planning activities.
  • Support application modernisation and migration initiatives within the FX ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with AI engineers to integrate AI-powered capabilities into business applications where required.

Required Qualifications

Frontend Development

  • Strong experience with: HTML5 CSS3 JavaScript / TypeScript React or Angular

Backend Development

  • Experience developing enterprise applications using: Java TypeScript (Node.js) REST API development Microservices architecture

Integration & Data

  • Experience integrating applications using APIs and messaging technologies.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or equivalent platforms.
  • Familiarity with database management and data integration concepts.

Cloud & DevOps

  • Experience with: Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Docker CI/CD pipelines GitLab

Security

  • Understanding of: Secure software development practices TLS and certificate management Identity and access management concepts Secrets management (e.g. Azure Key Vault)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing applications within large enterprise or government environments.
  • Experience with workflow-based systems, case management systems, or operational business applications.
  • Experience supporting application migration, modernisation, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Exposure to service design, user research, or product-led development practices.
