Responsibilities
- Develop technical solutions and architecture for new applications and legacy system modernization.
- Design and implement scalable software solutions using microservices, event-driven architectures, RESTful APIs, and modern integration patterns.
- Develop, test, and maintain production-quality applications with a focus on code quality, security, reliability, and maintainability.
- Promote engineering best practices, including code reviews, pair programming, test-driven development (TDD), refactoring, and test automation.
- Develop prototypes, technical spikes, and proof of concepts (POCs) to validate technical approaches and mitigate implementation risks.
- Support application deployment using cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
- Identify technical risks, evaluate architectural trade-offs, and communicate recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Establish monitoring and observability practices to support system performance, reliability, and production operations.
- Facilitate architecture reviews, technical workshops, discovery sessions, and engineering retrospectives to improve delivery practices.
- Coach and mentor client engineering teams through knowledge sharing, pair programming, constructive feedback, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to support end-to-end technical delivery.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 5 or more years of software engineering experience across architecture, development, testing, deployment, and production operations.
- Experience delivering new software applications and modernising legacy systems.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on programming experience with one or more languages or frameworks.
- Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
- Understanding of software architecture, microservices, event-driven systems, RESTful APIs, and system integration patterns.
- Knowledge of software testing strategies, code quality practices, secure development principles, and OWASP guidelines.
- Experience with technical mentoring, code reviews, pair programming, workshops, or other engineering knowledge-sharing activities.
- Ability to assess technical risks, evaluate solution trade-offs, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with the ability to adapt to evolving project requirements.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools is advantageous.
- Experience with Singapore Government technology platforms, such as SHIP-HATS, SG Tech Stack, or GCC, or experience delivering solutions for government agencies, is advantageous.
- Consultancy experience or experience working with multiple stakeholders and client engineering teams is advantageous.
