The posting

About the Company

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated General Manager to lead the establishment and growth of our Singapore operations.

This is a key leadership position for an individual with strong hands-on experience managing beauty salons and leading salon teams. The successful candidate will play a central role in setting up the business from the pre-opening stage through to launch and ongoing operations.

We are looking for someone who understands the beauty salon business, knows how to build and manage a high-performing team, and has the commercial and operational ability to establish a successful salon operation in Singapore.

About the Role

As General Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the pre-opening preparation, launch and day-to-day management of the salon.

You will work closely with the business owner and relevant partners to establish the salon's operations, recruit and train the team, develop operating procedures, build the customer base and achieve the business's sales and profitability objectives.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, initiative and a deep understanding of beauty salon operations.

Key Responsibilities

Salon Start-Up & Pre-Opening

  • Lead the operational set-up of the new beauty salon in Singapore.
  • Develop the salon's operating procedures, service standards and daily workflows.
  • Establish staffing requirements and recruitment plans.
  • Recruit, interview and select beauty therapists, senior therapists, reception/customer service staff and other key employees.
  • Develop staff onboarding and training programmes.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on beauty products, equipment, consumables, uniforms and other operational requirements.
  • Assist with the implementation of POS, appointment booking, CRM and inventory systems.
  • Establish treatment protocols, customer-service standards and salon procedures before opening.
  • Work with the owner and external partners on the opening timeline and launch preparation.
  • Ensure the salon is fully prepared for a smooth and professional opening.

Beauty Salon Operations

  • Take full responsibility for the daily operation and performance of the salon.
  • Lead the salon team and ensure consistently high standards of service.
  • Establish and maintain professional treatment and customer-service standards.
  • Manage staff schedules, manpower requirements and daily workflow.
  • Monitor treatment-room utilisation, appointment schedules and staff productivity.
  • Manage inventory, product usage, ordering and stock control.
  • Ensure the salon maintains high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, safety and presentation.
  • Handle customer feedback and resolve service issues professionally.
  • Continuously improve salon processes and operational efficiency.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Build and lead a strong, professional and customer-focused salon team.
  • Recruit experienced beauty therapists and other frontline employees.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and ongoing development to employees.
  • Establish individual and team KPIs.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Develop incentive and performance-management practices in conjunction with the owner.
  • Build a positive team culture with strong standards of professionalism and customer care.
  • Identify high-potential employees and develop future supervisors and salon leaders.

Sales & Customer Development

  • Take ownership of the salon's sales and revenue performance.
  • Develop strategies to attract new customers and generate repeat business.
  • Drive customer retention, referrals, memberships, packages and treatment sales.
  • Monitor individual therapist and team sales performance.
  • Coach staff on consultation, customer service and appropriate product/service recommendations.
  • Develop local partnerships and customer-acquisition opportunities.
  • Monitor customer feedback and identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction and retention.

Marketing

  • Work with the owner and marketing partners to develop local marketing initiatives.
  • Support pre-opening marketing and launch campaigns.
  • Develop initiatives to build awareness of the salon in the local market.
  • Monitor marketing results and customer acquisition.
  • Ensure marketing and promotional activities are consistent with the salon's brand positioning.

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Prepare and manage the salon's operating budget.
  • Monitor revenue, payroll, inventory, marketing expenses and other operating costs.
  • Track key business performance indicators and provide regular reports to the owner.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales, productivity and profitability.
  • Maintain appropriate controls over cash, inventory and expenses.

Branding Standards

  • Work with the owner to implement the required brand and operating standards.
  • Ensure all employees understand and follow established procedures.
  • Coordinate training and operational reviews
  • Maintain consistency in customer experience, treatment standards and brand presentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in beauty salon management, preferably with experience as a Salon Manager, Senior Salon Manager, Operations Manager or General Manager.
  • Strong track record of leading and managing beauty salon teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in salon operations, staff management, customer service and sales.
  • Strong knowledge of beauty treatments, salon operations and customer expectations.
  • Proven ability to recruit, train, motivate and retain beauty professionals.
  • Strong commercial understanding of salon sales, packages, memberships, retail products and customer retention.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Hands-on and willing to be actively involved in the salon's daily operations.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

Advantageous

  • Experience opening a new beauty salon or outlet from the pre-opening stage.
  • Experience managing a high-volume or premium beauty salon.
  • Experience in franchise or multi-outlet beauty operations.
  • Experience working with POS, CRM and salon appointment-management systems.
  • Experience developing sales incentive programmes and staff KPIs.
  • Experience in the Singapore beauty and wellness market.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a hands-on beauty industry leader, rather than someone with only general management experience.

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership of beauty therapists and salon teams
  • Excellent understanding of salon operations
  • Strong sales and customer-retention capabilities
  • Ability to recruit and build a team from scratch
  • Ability to establish systems and procedures for a new salon
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • High standards of customer service
  • Ability to coach and motivate employees
  • Entrepreneurial and proactive mindset
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of results

Application

Interested candidates should submit a CV detailing their beauty salon management experience, team size managed, sales/business responsibilities and experience in opening or growing beauty salon operations.

Candidates with strong hands-on beauty salon leadership experience are particularly encouraged to apply.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
