🌍 General Manager / Senior Trader – International Petrochemical Trading

📍 Location: Singapore / Indonesia

We are representing an established international industrial group looking to expand its petrochemical trading business across international markets.

We are seeking an experienced General Manager / Senior Trader with strong commercial and trading experience in Polyethylene (PE), particularly HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE and/or mLLDPE.

This role can suit either an experienced commercial leader capable of building and leading the trading business, or a strong senior trader with an established international customer and supplier network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and grow the international petrochemical trading business, with a primary focus on Polyethylene (PE).
  • Build and manage international customer and supplier relationships across China, Southeast Asia and other key global markets.
  • Source products from producers and suppliers and develop downstream customers and distribution channels.
  • Identify trading opportunities through market intelligence, supply-demand analysis and price movements.
  • Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, payment terms, contracts and trading terms.
  • Manage the full trading cycle from sourcing and commercial negotiation through shipment and delivery.
  • Develop relationships with producers, distributors, trading houses and industrial end-users.
  • Identify opportunities to expand into complementary non-PE chemical products.
  • Work closely with Operations, Logistics, Finance and other internal teams to ensure smooth transaction execution.
  • For GM-level candidates: build the business strategy, develop the trading platform and lead the commercial/trading team.

Primary Product Focus – Polyethylene (PE)

Candidates should have strong trading or commercial experience in one or more of the following:

• HDPE – High-Density Polyethylene

• LDPE – Low-Density Polyethylene

• LLDPE – Linear Low-Density Polyethylene

• mLLDPE – Metallocene Linear Low-Density Polyethylene

Strong existing supplier and/or customer networks within the PE market will be highly advantageous.

Secondary Product Exposure

Experience in the following products would be an added advantage:

• PVC – Polyvinyl Chloride

• Caustic Soda – Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH)

• Ammonia (NH₃)

• LPG – Liquefied Petroleum Gas

Requirements:

  • Degree in Business, Chemical Engineering, International Trade, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in international petrochemical / chemical trading, ideally with direct PE trading exposure.
  • Hands-on knowledge of HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE and/or mLLDPE markets.
  • Established relationships with producers, suppliers, distributors and/or end-users will be highly advantageous.
  • Proven ability to develop new customers and international markets.
  • Strong understanding of pricing, supply-demand dynamics, commercial negotiation and physical trading.
  • Comfortable managing transactions from sourcing and negotiation through contract and shipment execution.
  • Able to communicate independently with suppliers and customers in China.
  • For GM-level candidates, proven experience building a trading business, developing strategy and leading commercial teams would be highly regarded.

Why Apply?

  • Opportunity to build and grow an international petrochemical trading business.
  • Strong focus on the global PE market.
  • Freedom to develop new suppliers, customers and trading opportunities.
  • Regional and international market exposure.
  • Senior commercial opportunity with significant room for business growth.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
