The posting

We are hiring two Head Cooks / Senior Cooks to support the daily kitchen operations of our restaurant.

Both full-time and part-time work arrangements may be considered. The final appointment, working arrangement and schedule will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience, cooking skills, availability and the restaurant’s operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, cook and present dishes according to the restaurant’s recipes, quality standards and operating procedures.

• Plan and coordinate daily food preparation at one or more kitchen stations.

• Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, presentation and portion control.

• Prepare ingredients and ensure that the kitchen and assigned workstations are ready before each service period.

• Ensure that food is handled, stored and prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.

• Monitor ingredients, inventory and kitchen supplies, and inform the person in charge when replenishment is required.

• Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, cooking equipment and storage areas.

• Minimise food wastage and use ingredients responsibly.

• Coordinate with kitchen and service employees to ensure that customer orders are prepared accurately and on time.

• Guide and support cooks, junior cooks and kitchen assistants when required.

• Candidates appointed as Head Cook may be required to assist with kitchen staff allocation, ingredient ordering, daily kitchen supervision and menu planning.

• Perform opening, closing and other reasonable kitchen duties assigned by the person in charge.

Requirements:

• At least 2 years of relevant cooking experience in a restaurant, coffee shop, food court or other commercial kitchen environment.

• Good practical cooking skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.

• Good knowledge of kitchen hygiene, food safety and proper food handling practices.

• Able to follow recipes, portion requirements and standard operating procedures.

• Able to maintain consistent food quality in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

• Able to work independently and cooperate effectively with kitchen and service employees.

• Candidates considered for the Head Cook position should have relevant experience in supervising kitchen employees or coordinating kitchen operations.

• Responsible, punctual and able to manage assigned duties properly.

• Able to work according to an agreed roster. Shifts may include weekends and public holidays.

• Relevant culinary or food safety qualifications will be an advantage but are not compulsory.

For full-time arrangements, the monthly salary ranges from S$2,500 to S$5,000, depending on the candidate’s relevant experience, cooking skills and responsibilities.

For part-time arrangements, working days and working hours will be mutually agreed. Remuneration will be pro-rated based on the agreed working hours and applicable employment requirements.
