The posting

If you are a hands-on hospitality professional who enjoys leading operations, developing teams, and improving guest experience, this is an opportunity to take on a key management role overseeing hostel operations in Singapore.

This role is suitable for someone who is operationally strong, people-oriented, and commercially aware. You will play an important part in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, maintaining service standards, and supporting overall business performance.

Working Schedule

  • 5-day work week, with 2 days off
  • 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Off days assigned by Management
  • As hospitality is a 7-day operation, candidates should be prepared to work outside normal office hours, including weekends and Public Holidays, when operationally required
  • Location: Near Chinatown MRT/Lavender MRT

Key Responsibilities

Hostel Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day Front Office, Housekeeping, and general property operations
  • Ensure SOPs and service standards are consistently followed
  • Conduct regular property inspections
  • Coordinate maintenance matters and follow through on issue resolution
  • Manage purchasing, supplies, and inventory with attention to cost control
  • Oversee reservations, group bookings, and guest requests
  • Identify process gaps and improve operational efficiency and productivity

Guest Experience

  • Maintain strong guest service standards
  • Handle guest feedback, complaints, and service recovery
  • Monitor guest reviews and address recurring issues
  • Maintain a welcoming, safe, and positive hostel environment
  • Support continuous improvement in guest satisfaction

People Management

  • Recruit, train, roster, and supervise hostel staff
  • Manage attendance, leave, scheduling, and manpower deployment
  • Set clear expectations and maintain team accountability
  • Conduct coaching, training, and performance reviews
  • Address performance, disciplinary, and attendance matters appropriately
  • Build a culture of ownership, teamwork, and reliability

Commercial / Financial Management

  • Monitor occupancy, rates, booking trends, and property performance
  • Support direct bookings, group bookings, and other revenue opportunities
  • Monitor operating expenses and identify opportunities to improve profitability
  • Manage budgets and forecasts for the property
  • Control unnecessary spending and wastage
  • Balance guest experience with sound commercial decisions

Compliance / Safety

  • Ensure compliance with licensing, fire safety, workplace safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain operational records and incident reports
  • Ensure emergency, security, and safety procedures are followed
  • Escalate significant operational or compliance issues to Management when required

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Business Management, or a related discipline
  • Hospitality operations experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity
  • Experience in hostel, hotel, serviced apartment, or accommodation operations is an advantage
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Good working knowledge of Front Office, Housekeeping, Reservations, and Guest Services
  • Commercial awareness, including understanding of occupancy, rates, operating costs, budgets, and profitability
  • Comfortable using property management, reservation, or booking systems
  • Strong spoken and written English
  • Organised, resourceful, and able to work independently
  • Comfortable working weekends and Public Holidays when operationally required
