Responsibilities

  • Provide a point of escalation and support to L1 Engineers/System Engineers.
  • Perform routine system administration duties in a Windows Active Directory environment.
  • Monitor Windows and VMware servers and troubleshoot problems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and repair server operating systems and server hardware.
  • Install and configure OS on physical servers and virtual machines.
  • Manage Exchange 2019 and Exchange Online.
  • Manage and troubleshoot ESXi and virtual servers.
  • Administer and support the VMware platform.
  • Monitor ESXi servers and troubleshoot problems.
  • Perform VM creation, templates, snapshots, and VM backup.
  • Manage and support VMware vSphere environments, including vMotion, HA, DRS, and ESXi deployments.
  • Responsible for the operations and upkeep of private and shared virtualized environments.
  • Participate in new implementations and work closely with other virtualization engineers to maintain current environments.
  • Act as a technical escalation point within Central Operations for virtualization-specific issues.
  • Implement and support processes and systems required to deliver highly available virtualization platforms.
  • Perform vulnerability assessment remediation and fixing of findings for new and existing servers.
  • Participate in regular server patching activities.
  • Manage server hardware, including Dell and Lenovo servers.
  • Perform firmware updates and configure remote management tools for physical servers.
  • Configure RAID on physical servers.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot basic hardware issues.
  • Provide additional support when necessary for backup and storage functions.
  • Produce and maintain appropriate documentation for server deployment, configuration, application deployment, virtualization environments, and related processes.
  • Create documentation for environments, processes, technical training, and support procedures.
  • Provide training and technical leadership to Tier I personnel.
  • Drive efficient and effective resolution of customer issues.
  • Participate in weekend maintenance activities, as required.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 coverage of critical issues and internal systems.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Windows Servers, particularly Windows Server 2019 and 2022.
  • Strong working knowledge of: Active Directory DNS DHCP File & Print Servers Microsoft Cluster Server Backup AD Federated Services Windows PowerShell
  • Working experience supporting, maintaining, and administering core VMware technologies.
  • VMware vSphere 8.x experience or significant exposure to VMware vSphere and its features, including vMotion, HA, DRS, and ESXi deployments.
  • Experience with VM creation, templates, snapshots, and VM backup.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting ESXi and virtual servers.
  • Experience managing Exchange 2019 and Exchange Online.
  • Experience with Dell and Lenovo server hardware.
  • Knowledge of firmware updates and remote management tool configuration for physical servers.
  • Experience installing and configuring operating systems on physical servers and virtual machines.
  • Knowledge of RAID configuration on physical servers.
  • Basic skills in analyzing and troubleshooting hardware issues.
  • Must have experience performing enterprise-level project implementation and support.
  • Must have strong working and technical knowledge.
  • Excellent customer service and telephone skills, with experience in a professional services environment supporting multiple applications and network environments.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Very strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • At least 2–4 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
  • Willingness to participate in weekend maintenance activities and an on-call rotation to support 24/7 coverage of critical issues and internal systems.
