We are looking for a sharp, agile, and multimedia-savvy Journalist / Correspondent to join Lianhe Zabao China News Desk in Singapore. You will work with a team of passionate media professionals to cover breaking developments, craft insightful analyses on politics, economy, foreign policy and social trends across the Greater China Region. This role requires both traditional journalistic rigor and modern digital storytelling capabilities to transform complex narratives into engaging multi-platform digital content.
Responsibilities
- Track breaking developments, policy shifts, economic trends and social changes in the Greater China region to pitch timely, original and high-impact story ideas;
- Gather facts and information from verified sources to produce accurate, well-sourced, objective and insightful news reports, features, and analytical pieces under tight deadline;
- Cultivate and maintain a strong network of subject-matter experts, academics, industry leaders, and newsmakers;
- Edit, adapt and manage content for Lianhe Zaobao’s digital platforms and social media channels to keep content updated and drive audience engagement; and
- Collaborate with other functions in the newsroom, including digital designers, graphic designers, and video editors to curate multimedia content such as videos, infographics, and interactive long forms.
Requirements
- Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Chinese Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Economics or a related discipline.
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Prior professional experience in journalism, content production, or media publishing will be advantageous and candidates with experience in covering China or regional news can be considered for more senior roles.
- A strong passion for current affairs, with nuanced understanding of contemporary Chinese politics, macroeconomic policies, foreign relations and socio-cultural dynamics.
- Strong command of the Chinese language is essential; professional working proficiency in English is required as this role supports a Chinese publication.
- Self-motivated and highly adaptable to fast-paced, evolving news environments, with the ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines, while maintaining commitment to accuracy, editorial integrity, and objective, balanced reporting.
- Experience in video production, image editing and social media management will be advantageous.
- Willingness and ability to work on a shift roster, including evenings and weekends, as required.
