Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of the Legal Department, you will undertake the following responsibilities:
- Provision of timely, practical and commercially-sound legal advice to business units within IPOS to support their projects or work activities, or value-add to their business or policy objectives.
- Provision of advice to the IP registries on IP legislation and practices; assisting with law reform in areas of IP and emerging technologies; and the translation of the policies of the IP Registries or other business units within IPOS into legislation;
- Representation of Singapore for IP issues in international agreements and diplomatic conferences, including formulating policy positions, conduct of negotiations, drafting and rendering of advice; provision of IP legal support and representation to IPOS and other government agencies in an international or regional fora, bilateral exchanges and any bilateral or WTO dispute involving IP elements; and translation of international IP commitments into legislation.
- Provide advice to other government agencies on IP policies and practices.
Requirements
- A recognised law degree.
- Between 2-4 years relevant working experience and called to the Singapore Bar.
- Experience in government or a public agency is preferred.
- Familiarity with the law, policies and practices in at least one key practice area of IP law, such as Patents, Designs or Copyright.
- Analytical, independent and self-motivated.
- Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
