The posting

Lower Secondary Science Teacher

$4,000–$5,800/month. 9–10 classes a week. Maximum 12 students per class. Only one weekend day.

We're looking for one good Science teacher.

Someone who's dynamic, passionate about making a difference, and genuinely cares about helping students get better.

Someone who doesn't just know Science, but knows how to teach it — to take a difficult concept, break it down, and explain it in a way that finally clicks.

Someone who wants to keep improving at their craft, contribute ideas, and eventually take real ownership of our Lower Secondary Science programme.

The Classroom has been teaching Secondary students in Hougang since 2009. Over the years, we've taught close to 3,000 students and built a strong reputation particularly in O-Level Chemistry and Mathematics.

We're now building our Lower Secondary Science programme, and we're looking for someone who can eventually take real ownership of it.

What you'll be doing

Your main responsibility will be teaching Sec 1 and Sec 2 Science.

You'll also:

  • Prepare well for your lessons.
  • Track how your students are doing and identify where they're struggling.
  • Speak to parents about their child's progress.
  • Work with us to improve our notes, worksheets and practice materials.
  • Help us figure out how difficult concepts can be taught better.

We already have our curriculum and materials in place. You won't be expected to start from zero.

But we're also not looking for someone who simply opens the notes, teaches what's on the page and goes home.

If something can be taught better, we want you to tell us.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone who can teach.

Someone who can look at a student who doesn't understand something, figure out where they've gone wrong, and explain it another way.

Ideally, you should have:

  • Experience teaching Secondary Science.
  • A degree in Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • Confidence managing a classroom independently.
  • The ability to communicate clearly with students and parents.
  • A willingness to keep learning and improving as a teacher.

If you can also teach Upper Secondary Pure Physics / Chemistry, tell us. That's a plus, but it's not a requirement.

What we're offering

$4,000–$5,800/month, depending on experience, teaching ability and the scope you're able to take on.

9–10 classes a week.

Maximum 12 students per class.

Four weekdays + one weekend day.

We deliberately keep the teaching load manageable.

We'd rather have a teacher walk into 9–10 classes properly prepared and teach them extremely well than squeeze another six classes into the week because we can.

We're a small team. You'll work directly with me and the other teachers, and you'll have a genuine say in how we build the Science programme.

As the programme grows, there'll also be room for your role to grow — whether that's curriculum development, mentoring other teachers or eventually taking greater ownership of the Science programme.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
