Job Summary
Operate conventional horizontal lathe, milling, drilling, and grinding machines to machine parts accurately from engineered drawings while maintaining safety and efficiency in a workshop environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate conventional horizontal lathe, milling, drilling, and grinding machines with precision to produce parts according to engineered drawings
- Apply knowledge of cutting tools, tool applications, fixture devices, part setting, and machine setting for various sizes to optimize machining processes
- Interpret technical drawings and documents to determine correct repair parts and machining procedures
- Inspect completed workpieces to verify repair success and adherence to specifications
- Read and understand blueprints to guide machining tasks accurately
- Maintain a clean and organized work area daily to ensure safety and efficiency
- Perform daily preventive maintenance on machine tools to sustain optimal operation
- Organize and store machining fixtures systematically for future use
- Identify parts requiring replacement and coordinate orders for parts or repair services for self and mechanical technicians
- Assist workshop supervisor or technical director in completing work scopes within assigned timeframes
- Conduct self-inspection on finished workpieces to ensure quality standards
- Manage time effectively and coordinate all assigned job aspects as directed by supervisors or technical managers
- Plan jobs efficiently and schedule tasks to meet deadlines
- Execute all tasks using prescribed safety equipment and comply with applicable OSHA safety rules for self and mechanical technicians
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management
