The posting

We are looking for an experienced and customer-focused Handphone Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our mobile phone retail outlet.

The Shop Manager will be responsible for sales performance, staff management, customer service, inventory control, merchandising and overall shop operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Shop Operations

  • Manage the daily operations of the handphone retail shop.
  • Ensure the shop is clean, organised and properly presented.
  • Monitor opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure company SOPs and operating procedures are followed.
  • Handle day-to-day operational issues and resolve problems promptly.

2. Sales & Business Performance

  • Lead the sales team to achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
  • Monitor daily sales performance and individual staff targets.
  • Promote mobile phones, accessories, SIM cards, plans and related products/services.
  • Develop sales strategies and promotional activities to increase revenue.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor pricing and new mobile phone launches.
  • Identify opportunities to increase sales and customer retention.

3. Staff Management

  • Recruit, train and supervise retail sales staff.
  • Prepare staff schedules and manage manpower deployment.
  • Set sales targets and monitor staff performance.
  • Coach staff on product knowledge, sales techniques and customer service.
  • Handle staff attendance, discipline and performance issues.
  • Motivate the team to achieve sales and service targets.

4. Customer Service

  • Provide professional and friendly customer service.
  • Assist customers with product selection and recommendations.
  • Handle customer enquiries, complaints, returns and service issues.
  • Ensure customers receive accurate information regarding products, prices, promotions and plans.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and encourage repeat business.

5. Inventory Management

  • Monitor stock levels of mobile phones, tablets, accessories and other products.
  • Conduct regular stock checks and stocktaking.
  • Ensure accurate inventory records.
  • Monitor high-value stock and minimise losses, damage and discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and management for replenishment.
  • Ensure proper product display and merchandising.

6. Mobile Phone & Product Knowledge

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mobile phones, accessories and technology.
  • Understand key features and differences between major brands.
  • Ensure sales staff are familiar with new products and promotions.
  • Provide accurate product information to customers.

7. Cashier & Administrative Duties

  • Monitor daily cash collection and payment transactions.
  • Ensure proper handling of cash, card and electronic payments.
  • Check sales records and daily reconciliation.
  • Maintain accurate sales and inventory documentation.
  • Prepare regular sales and operational reports for management.

8. Promotions & Merchandising

  • Ensure products and promotional materials are displayed attractively.
  • Implement company promotions and campaigns.
  • Monitor promotional pricing and product offers.
  • Maintain an appealing and professional shop environment.

Requirements

  • Diploma or relevant qualification preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in mobile phone, electronics, retail or telecommunications sales.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or shop management role is preferred.
  • Strong sales and customer service skills.
  • Good knowledge of smartphones, mobile devices and accessories.
  • Strong leadership and team-management abilities.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Able to work independently and handle operational issues.
  • Comfortable working retail shifts, weekends and public holidays.
