The posting

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with terminal, charterer, customer, international and local operational and safety requirements.
  • Manage marine audits, inspections and compliance requirements, including ISM, ISPS and MLC.
  • Arrange and manage vetting inspections and OCIMF SIRE submissions.
  • Ensure sea staff competency through continuous evaluation, training and feedback.
  • Ensure safe and effective marine operations in accordance with the Safety Management System.
  • Ensure vessel publications and onboard notices are maintained and updated.
  • Oversee maintenance and servicing of cargo-operation and navigation equipment.
  • Investigate accidents/incidents, identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor vessel operational and safety performance and provide updates to management.
  • Coordinate with terminals, charterers, customers, P&I insurers and other stakeholders.
  • Manage Marine Department resources, personnel and budget.
  • Participate in Safety Management System reviews.

Requirements:

  • Seagoing experience as a Master with at least CoC Class 1 or 2.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant shore-based experience in safety, health, environmental management and compliance for product or chemical tankers.
  • Strong knowledge of international and local maritime regulations.
  • Strong integrity and professionalism.
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork, management and communication skills.
