The posting

The Sequoia Vision is looking for a passionate and academically strong JC Mathematics Tutor / Mathematics Specialist to join our teaching team.

We are looking for educators who enjoy teaching Mathematics, are confident with the Singapore A-Level Mathematics syllabus and are able to break down challenging concepts into clear, structured explanations that students can understand and apply.

Whether you are an experienced JC tutor, former/current MOE educator, or a strong Mathematics graduate looking to build a long-term career in education, we welcome you to explore this opportunity with us.

Team Culture

We believe good educators grow best in an environment where people can learn from one another, exchange ideas and continuously improve their craft.

  • Real Connections: We value open and honest communication. Ideas, teaching strategies and constructive feedback are encouraged.
  • Team Support: You will work alongside fellow educators who share resources, teaching insights and feedback to help one another improve.
  • Focus on Teaching: We want our educators to spend their energy on helping students learn, rather than being weighed down by unnecessary administrative work.
  • Continuous Improvement: We believe even experienced teachers can continue developing their teaching methodology, classroom delivery and ability to engage different types of learners.
  • Impact on Students: Our goal goes beyond helping students complete questions—we want them to understand Mathematics, become stronger problem-solvers and gain confidence in the subject.

Key Responsibilities

As a JC Mathematics Tutor / Mathematics Specialist, you will:

  • Teach JC H1 and/or H2 Mathematics in accordance with the Singapore MOE A-Level syllabus.
  • Deliver clear, structured and engaging lessons that help students understand complex mathematical concepts.
  • Guide students in developing strong problem-solving techniques and effective approaches to A-Level examination questions.
  • Identify students' learning gaps and provide targeted guidance to strengthen weaker areas.
  • Help students connect mathematical concepts across different topics instead of relying solely on memorised procedures.
  • Prepare, review and/or improve lesson materials, worksheets, revision resources and assessment questions.
  • Analyse students' work and common misconceptions to improve teaching effectiveness.
  • Monitor students' academic progress and provide appropriate feedback and intervention where necessary.
  • Participate in lesson observations, peer sharing, internal training and professional development.
  • Collaborate with other Mathematics educators on curriculum development, teaching strategies and educational projects.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong command of JC / A-Level Mathematics.
  • Is confident in explaining challenging mathematical concepts in a simple and logical manner.
  • Enjoys working with teenagers and understands that students learn at different speeds and ability levels.
  • Is patient, engaging and able to build students' confidence in Mathematics.
  • Is receptive to coaching, lesson feedback and continuous professional development.
  • Is reliable, responsible and able to work collaboratively within a teaching team.
  • Is interested in developing a long-term career in education and Mathematics teaching.

Qualifications

Candidates should preferably meet one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or another highly quantitative discipline from a recognised university.
  • Strong academic results in A-Level H2 Mathematics or equivalent.
  • Prior experience teaching JC H1/H2 Mathematics in an MOE school, tuition centre or private tuition setting is highly advantageous.
  • Fresh university graduates with excellent Mathematics fundamentals and strong communication skills are also welcome to apply.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate sufficient Mathematics content competency as part of the selection process.

Training & Career Development

For candidates joining our full-time teaching team, we provide structured training and development, which may include:

  • Observation of experienced educators.
  • Training in our teaching methodology and lesson delivery approach.
  • Lesson practice and teaching feedback.
  • Curriculum and resource familiarisation.
  • Classroom management and student engagement techniques.
  • Progressive assignment of classes based on teaching readiness.

Experienced educators may progress more quickly through the training pathway based on demonstrated teaching competency and performance.

Career progression opportunities are available towards roles such as:

Mathematics Specialist → Senior Mathematics Specialist → Master / Lead Mathematics Specialist

Progression is based on teaching competency, contribution, performance and demonstrated ability.

Working Arrangement

Full-Time and Part-Time opportunities are available.

As our students attend lessons primarily outside regular school hours, candidates should be comfortable with a teaching schedule of 4 weekdays and 1 weekend or 3 weekdays and 2 weekends.

Specific working arrangements will be discussed according to the position applied for.

If Mathematics is a subject you genuinely enjoy and you find satisfaction in helping students finally understand concepts they once struggled with, we would love to hear from you.

At The Sequoia Vision, we are looking for educators who want to continuously improve their craft, contribute to a strong teaching team and make a meaningful difference in their students' learning.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
