The posting

The following is not an exhaustive summary. There will inevitably be roles and responsibilities that emerge from time to time and which will be agreed between the member of staff and the Reporting Officer as reasonable variations to this list.

(1) School Network and Network Services (on-going)

· Monitoring of Network and Servers infrastructure including internet traffic daily;

· Install network hardware and software and make needed upgrades and repairs;

· Maintain the network infrastructure including all servers, firewalls, switches, and other equipment;

· Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations;

· Administer and maintain a disaster recovery location which includes essential file replication and remote access in the event of an emergency;

· Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware;

· Implement security and anti-virus measures for computer or information systems;

· Handling all the servers - SQL Server, Email Server, Printer Server, File Server;

· Managing local area networks, installing, and maintaining routers, generating email addresses, and creating passwords and backups.

(2) Devices and Application Licences

· Update records of issued application software licenses – MS Windows, Office 365;

· To liaise with suppliers for deals and quotations for renewal and new licenses;

(3) Server room maintenance (monthly to quarterly)

· Maintain documentation and inventory of network, server and other equipment;

· Coordinate routine room maintenance work;

· Respond to disruption issues like water level warning, power supply etc.

(5) Database- Active Directory – File Servers

· Create AD user account and Group Policy for user and computer;

· Bulk creation of new student’s network and email accounts;

· Bulk removing of the students who have left the school;

· Recover user data from the backup server upon user request;

· Create userid, and email account for the new staffs and students as and when they join the school;

· Share folder permissions and handling issues related to share folders;

(6) Finger print and bar code scan applications

· Set up accounts for finger print access locations;

· Manage the activation timing of locations with finger print access;

· Manage and support the set up and database of bar code scanning service at the guardroom;

(7) General User Support

· Provide operational support for staff and students with devices for functions like printing, email etc.;

· Provide staff and students support for all workstation, printer issues and software installation;

· Provide operational support regarding their login and network issues;

· Help to install and maintain departmental software resources;

· Connect, set up and check PCs and peripherals for normal operations;

· Detect, diagnose and resolve device, peripheral and application errors;

· Provide power supply, wifi access and printing services for school events;

· Assist in PA related services at times of manpower shortage.
