The posting

NES Fircroft is currently recruiting an Operations Readiness Lead to support offshore Oil & Gas engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Operational Readiness (OR) activities across project execution phases, ensuring successful preparation for commissioning, start-up, and operations.
  • Develop and implement production readiness strategies, execution plans, commissioning and start-up philosophies, and operational transition plans.
  • Define resource requirements, operational prerequisites, risk mitigation measures, and production ramp-up/ramp-down strategies.
  • Prepare and manage operational readiness and CSU deliverables, ensuring compliance with client requirements and project contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering, commissioning, construction, and operations teams to ensure readiness milestones are achieved.
  • Monitor and report progress of production readiness activities through regular project meetings and management reviews.
  • Act as the key interface between project teams, clients, and operational stakeholders on matters relating to operational readiness and commissioning.
  • Facilitate workshops, technical reviews, risk assessments, and readiness reviews to support project objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to project teams involved in operational readiness, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Support site-based commissioning and start-up activities, ensuring safe execution and effective transition to operations.
  • Identify operational and commissioning risks and implement mitigation measures to ensure project readiness and start-up success.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in operational readiness, commissioning, start-up, or production operations within the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven experience supporting major upstream, offshore, LNG, refinery, petrochemical, or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning and start-up methodologies, operational transition planning, and production readiness processes.
  • Experience working on international projects, preferably within large EPC/EPCI project environments.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing commissioning, start-up, and operational readiness documentation and deliverables.

Desired Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of commissioning, start-up, risk assessment, and operational readiness best practices.
  • Experience developing and implementing CSU plans, readiness assessments, and operational procedures.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across project teams, clients, and operations personnel.
  • Strong facilitation skills for technical workshops, reviews, and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Proven ability to manage technical issues through to close-out and deliver results within schedule commitments.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
