The posting

You will be responsible for ensuring storage systems are reliable, secure, and performing well. Your work will include system monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and recovery from system failures.

This role focuses on operating and improving existing storage environments rather than developing new storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain Ceph and OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF) storage environments.
  • Monitor storage health, capacity, performance, and system alerts.
  • Perform system upgrades, patching, capacity expansion, and routine maintenance.
  • Manage disk and server replacements, data recovery, and storage rebalancing.
  • Troubleshoot storage performance issues, system failures, and network-related problems.
  • Support block and file storage services using Ceph CSI, RBD, and CephFS.
  • Resolve persistent storage issues within Kubernetes and OpenShift environments.
  • Maintain monitoring dashboards, technical documentation, recovery procedures, and capacity plans.
  • Conduct recovery testing and participate in production incident management and root-cause analysis.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, network, platform, and application teams to ensure reliable storage operations.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining Ceph storage environments.
  • Experience in storage monitoring, performance troubleshooting, capacity planning, upgrades, and hardware replacement.
  • Ability to diagnose technical issues across Linux systems, storage software, networks, and physical hardware.
  • Knowledge of storage hardware such as HDDs, SSDs, NVMe, and HBAs.
  • Understanding of storage performance benchmarking and optimisation.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Python, or shell scripting.
  • Knowledge of backup, snapshots, replication, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience with OpenShift Data Foundation, Kubernetes storage, Ceph CSI, RBD, or CephFS would be an advantage.

Candidates with experience in developing or operating distributed storage platforms are welcome to apply.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.
