Preschool English Teacher (ECDA L2) – Nursery

Salary: S$3,000 – S$3,900 per month Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Ang Mo Kio Work Arrangement: On-site

About The Role

Our client is an established non-profit early childhood centre in Ang Mo Kio looking for an ECDA L2 English Preschool Teacher to take a Nursery class.

The centre provides an inclusive, child-centred and relationship-based learning environment inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach.

Children are viewed as capable, curious and active participants in their own learning. Teachers observe closely, listen to children's ideas and create meaningful opportunities for them to explore, question, communicate and learn through everyday experiences.

This is a hands-on classroom teaching role. The successful teacher should be comfortable taking ownership of a Nursery class, planning and conducting learning experiences, managing daily classroom routines, observing children's development and communicating professionally with parents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the daily teaching and management of a Nursery class
  • Plan and conduct developmentally appropriate learning experiences for preschool children
  • Support children's English language, communication and early literacy development
  • Introduce age-appropriate phonics, vocabulary, storytelling, pre-reading and early writing experiences
  • Create opportunities for children to explore, investigate, ask questions and express their ideas
  • Use play, stories, art, music, movement, sensory experiences and hands-on activities to support learning
  • Observe children's interests, learning, behaviour and development
  • Use observations to guide lesson planning and respond to individual learning needs
  • Prepare lesson plans, learning materials, classroom documentation and developmental records
  • Manage classroom routines, transitions and children's behaviour calmly and appropriately
  • Build positive, respectful and responsive relationships with children
  • Maintain a safe, organised and nurturing classroom environment
  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding children's learning and development
  • Work closely with fellow educators and centre staff
  • Participate in centre activities, meetings, training and school events when required
  • Follow the centre's child-safety, supervision and classroom-management practices

Requirements

  • ECDA L2 English certification, relevant recognised qualification, or clear eligibility for ECDA L2 English certification
  • Relevant early childhood education qualification recognised by ECDA
  • Comfortable taking responsibility for a Nursery class
  • Able to plan and conduct developmentally appropriate preschool lessons
  • Able to support English language and early literacy development
  • Able to manage classroom routines and children's behaviour appropriately
  • Able to observe and document children's learning and development
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally with parents and colleagues
  • Good spoken and written English, as this role is responsible for English language teaching, literacy development, documentation and parent communication
  • Patient, steady, observant and respectful when working with young children
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on, community-based preschool environment
  • Able to work full-time on-site in Ang Mo Kio

Relevant Nursery or preschool classroom experience will be an advantage.

Candidates with experience in English language development, phonics, early literacy, lesson planning, classroom management, child observation and parent communication are encouraged to apply.

Candidates with less teaching experience may also be considered if they possess the required ECDA L2 English qualification and are able to demonstrate sound classroom fundamentals.

About The Environment

The centre is an established non-profit, community-based early childhood centre.

Its approach places the child at the centre of learning. Teachers are encouraged to listen carefully to children's ideas, observe how they learn and create opportunities for exploration, investigation and meaningful interaction.

Learning may take place through play, language, art, music, movement, nature, projects and everyday experiences.

The environment is inclusive and relationship-based, with an emphasis on helping children develop confidence, independence, curiosity, communication skills and emotional security.

This role may suit an educator who values meaningful relationships with children and is comfortable contributing within a close-knit preschool environment.

Working Arrangement

  • Full-time, on-site position in Ang Mo Kio
  • Predominantly Monday to Friday
  • Rostered working hours within the centre's operating hours
  • No regular Saturday roster
  • Occasional Saturday attendance may be required for scheduled school events such as open houses
  • Advance notice will be provided when Saturday support is required
  • Participation in centre meetings, training and other scheduled activities may also be required

Application

Interested applicants may apply with an updated resume showing their:

  • Early childhood qualification
  • ECDA certification
  • Nursery / preschool teaching experience
  • Relevant English language and literacy teaching experience

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
