NES Fircroft is currently recruiting a Principal Process Engineer to support offshore Oil & Gas engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the Section Manager – System Engineering on a functional basis and to the Project Engineering Manager at the project level.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the Process Engineering discipline during tendering, conceptual design, FEED and detailed engineering phases.
- Lead the development and delivery of safe, technically sound and cost-effective process engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all process engineering activities comply with applicable statutory requirements, company procedures, client specifications, industry standards, quality requirements and HSE expectations.
- Review project contractual requirements, scope boundaries and technical responsibilities, and support the management-of-change process within assigned areas.
- Plan and manage process engineering resources, priorities, deliverables and progress in accordance with the approved project budget and schedule.
- Maintain the technical integrity and quality of all process engineering designs, calculations, documents and deliverables prepared under the role’s supervision.
- Develop, review and approve key process engineering deliverables, including process simulations, process flow diagrams, utility flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, SAFE charts, hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing calculations and process datasheets.
- Provide process engineering input for equipment and package specifications, bid enquiry documents, technical bid evaluations and vendor selection activities.
- Coordinate technical interfaces with equipment manufacturers, package vendors and other engineering disciplines to ensure compliance with the project Basis of Design, specifications and client requirements.
- Identify, assess and manage technical and project risks within the assigned scope, ensuring appropriate preventive and mitigating measures are implemented.
- Support independent verification, classification society reviews and approvals by relevant regulatory or certifying authorities.
- Represent the Process Engineering discipline during client meetings, technical reviews, audits, design reviews, verification activities and project workshops.
- Lead or actively participate in HAZOP, SIL, ALARP and other process safety or design assurance workshops.
- Provide timely technical support to fabrication, construction, commissioning and site teams when required.
- Resolve process-related technical queries, design changes and interface matters throughout project execution.
- Support the continuous improvement of engineering work methods, tools, procedures and discipline standards.
- Assist the Section Manager with work allocation, technical supervision, mentoring and development of process engineering personnel.
- Provide input for employee development and performance evaluations where required.
- Perform other relevant duties assigned by the reporting manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant process engineering experience within a multidisciplinary engineering environment supporting upstream oil and gas projects.
- At least four years of experience as a Lead Process Engineer or in a comparable technical leadership position.
- Proven experience working on fixed and/or floating offshore installations.
- Strong exposure to medium- or large-scale greenfield and/or brownfield projects within the upstream oil and gas sector.
- Sound understanding of project phases, engineering milestones, discipline deliverables, procurement activities and internal and external technical interfaces.
- Extensive hands-on experience developing and reviewing process engineering deliverables, including Process simulation, Process and utility flow diagrams, Piping and instrumentation diagrams, SAFE charts, Equipment sizing and hydraulic calculations, Equipment and instrument process datasheets, and Process design philosophies and technical specifications
- Demonstrated experience participating in Design Reviews, HAZOP, SIL and ALARP workshops.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant oil and gas standards and regulations, including API, ISO, NORSOK and applicable European Union directives.
- Proficiency in process design and simulation software such as HYSYS, UniSim, Flare System Analyzer, PIPENET or equivalent tools.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
