The posting

  1. Position Summary

The Process Engineer will be responsible for the design, engineering, technical evaluation and project execution of process and utility systems for semiconductor, advanced manufacturing and cleanroom facilities.

The role will focus primarily on process utility piping systems and packaged equipment, covering the full engineering cycle from tender and design development through procurement, fabrication, installation, testing and commissioning.

The successful candidate is expected to build upon a strong mechanical/piping engineering foundation and progressively develop expertise in semiconductor process utilities, high-purity piping systems, process calculations, equipment sizing and control philosophies..

  1. Key Responsibilities

A. Process &Utility System Design

  • Develop and review process utility system designs based on client specifications, design criteria and project requirements.
  • Prepare and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), equipment layouts, general arrangement drawings and piping routing.
  • Establish system design parameters including flow, pressure, temperature, capacity and operating requirements.
  • Perform piping sizing, flow calculations, pressure-drop calculations and hydraulic analysis.
  • Support pump, heat exchanger, tank, filter, valve and other process equipment sizing and selection.
  • Develop utility load summaries and system capacity requirements.

Typical systems may include:

  • Process Cooling Water (PCW)
  • Chilled Water / Mechanical Cooling Water
  • Clean Dry Air (CDA)
  • Nitrogen / General Utility Gases
  • Vacuum Systems
  • UPW / DI / RO Water Systems
  • Industrial and Potable Water
  • Chemical Supply and Return Systems
  • Wastewater and Chemical Waste Systems
  • Process Equipment Utility Hook-ups
  • High-Purity Process Utility Systems

B. Semiconductor Process Utility Engineering

  • Develop technical understanding of semiconductor facility utility requirements and clean manufacturing environments.
  • Apply appropriate semiconductor cleanliness, contamination-control and material-selection requirements.
  • Support the design of high-purity piping and tubing systems.
  • Develop knowledge and application of:
  • 316L stainless-steel high-purity tubing
  • Orbital welding
  • Electropolished piping and surface-finish requirements
  • PFA, PVDF, PP and other chemical piping materials
  • Dead-leg minimisation
  • Drainability and piping slope requirements
  • Purging and contamination control
  • Cleaning, flushing and passivation
  • Helium leak testing
  • Particle, moisture and oxygen testing where applicable

C. Equipment &Skid Engineering

  • Develop and review process equipment and utility skid designs.
  • Coordinate mechanical, piping, structural, electrical, instrumentation and control interfaces.
  • Prepare equipment datasheets and technical specifications.
  • Evaluate equipment performance against process requirements.
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations for equipment, piping components, valves and instrumentation.
  • Review vendor drawings, calculations and technical submissions.

D. Instrumentation& Control Philosophy

  • Develop basic process control philosophies for utility systems.
  • Define process instrumentation requirements including flow, pressure, temperature and level measurement.
  • Establish operating, alarm and trip requirements.
  • Support development of:
  • Sequence of operation
  • Interlock philosophy
  • Cause-and-effect requirements
  • Fail-safe valve positions
  • BMS / SCADA / PLC interface requirements

Programming of PLC/BMS systems is not required; however, the Process Engineer is expected to define the process functional requirements.

E. Piping Engineering & Constructability

  • Review piping routing, layouts, isometrics and equipment arrangement.
  • Ensure piping systems are practical, maintainable and constructible.
  • Review piping materials and specifications for compatibility with process fluids and operating conditions.
  • Coordinate pipe supports, accessibility, maintenance clearances and installation requirements.
  • Provide engineering support during fabrication and site installation.

F. Tender &Proposal Engineering

  • Review RFPs, specifications, drawings and tender requirements.
  • Develop technical concepts and process solutions.
  • Identify technical risks, exclusions, assumptions and clarification requirements.
  • Prepare technical proposals and engineering submissions.
  • Raise RFIs and technical clarifications where project requirements are unclear.
  • Support cost estimation by developing equipment lists, utility requirements and material take-offs..

G. Project Engineering & Coordination

  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, vendors, subcontractors and internal project teams.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical meetings.
  • Manage engineering deliverables and design schedules.
  • Resolve technical and constructability issues during execution.
  • Support procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning activities.
  • Review and manage vendor deviations and technical queries.

H. Testing &Commissioning

  • Review testing and commissioning requirements.
  • Support pressure testing, hydrotesting, flushing and system cleaning.
  • Support leak testing and high-purity testing where applicable.
  • Participate in system commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • Review testing documentation and project turnover packages.
  1. Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess:

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Strong experience in piping, mechanical systems, process equipment, water-treatment systems or engineered skid systems.
  • Good knowledge of P&IDs, piping isometrics, GA drawings and 3D model reviews.
  • Experience with technical specifications, material selection, vendor coordination and fabrication support.
  • Experience working across engineering, procurement, fabrication and project execution phases.
  • Knowledge of ASME and applicable international engineering standards.
  1. Key Competencies

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • Strong piping and mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to understand the complete process rather than piping routing alone
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to perform and understand process calculations
  • Practical fabrication and constructability knowledge
  • Ability to interpret complex technical specifications
  • Strong vendor and subcontractor management
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering interfaces

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
