About the Role
Julian Grey's client is looking for a Quantity Surveyor, an established consultancy supporting government and public-sector construction projects in Singapore.
The role focuses on post-contract quantity surveying, particularly the measurement, verification and valuation of variation orders (VOs).
You will work closely with an experienced QS team to review contractors' variation submissions, verify quantities and prepare accurate, well-supported valuation assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Review contractors' variation order submissions against contract drawings, specifications, revised drawings and relevant project instructions.
- Identify and measure additions, omissions and changes arising from variations to the original contract scope.
- Verify contractors' claimed quantities through independent measurement and drawing comparisons.
- Prepare detailed measurement sheets, quantity breakdowns and supporting calculations.
- Assess variation valuations using applicable contract rates, schedules of rates and contractual valuation provisions.
- Review supporting quotations, cost breakdowns and proposed new rates, highlighting discrepancies or items requiring clarification.
- Prepare clear and substantiated VO assessment summaries and valuation workings for review by the QS team.
- Coordinate with project and QS teams to clarify drawing discrepancies, measurement differences and outstanding information.
- Maintain accurate and organised records of measurements, drawing references, instructions and supporting documentation.
- Track the progress of assigned VO assessments and incorporate review comments or amendments as required.
Requirements
- Relevant hands-on experience in post-contract quantity surveying, particularly VO measurement and valuation.
- Experience in a quantity surveying or multidisciplinary consultancy is preferred.
- Experience with Singapore government or public-sector construction projects is an advantage.
- Familiarity with PSSCOC, contract rates, schedules of rates and contractual valuation procedures.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and contract documents, including identifying changes between drawing revisions.
