About the role

The Hostel Receptionist is the first point of contact for our guests. You will create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for travellers from around the world, manage check-ins and check-outs, handle bookings and enquiries, and keep the front desk running smoothly and safely.

Key responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly and carry out check-in and check-out efficiently, including ID verification and payment handling
  • Manage reservations through the booking system and online platforms (e.g. Agoda, Booking.com), and keep availability up to date
  • Answer enquiries by phone, email, and in person; provide information about the hostel, facilities, and local area
  • Allocation of beds and rooms
  • Handle cash, card payments, and end-of-shift cash reconciliation accurately
  • Resolve guest complaints and issues calmly and professionally, escalating to the manager when needed
  • Enforce hostel rules, including quiet hours, security, and house policies
  • Monitor common areas and respond appropriately to safety or security concerns, following emergency procedures
  • Coordinate cleaning schedule with housekeeping team on a weekly basis
  • Maintaining of basic cleanliness in the hostel from time to time

About you

  • Previous experience in reception, hospitality, or customer service (hostel experience is a plus)
  • Excellent spoken and written English; additional languages are an advantage
  • Friendly, approachable, and patient, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable using computers, booking systems, and online platforms
  • Good organization, attention to detail, and ability to multitask under pressure
  • Honest and reliable with cash handling and guest information
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of property management software (e.g.Cloudbeds)
  • First aid certification
  • Local knowledge and a passion for travel and meeting people
