Job Description
About the Role
The Department of Surgery at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistant/Research Associate to join our multidisciplinary research team.
The successful candidate will support a portfolio of health services research, population health research, and clinical research projects conducted across NUS and partnering healthcare institutions.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals while gaining hands-on experience in the design, conduct, management, and dissemination of research.
The appointment is offered on a 1-year contract in the first instance and may be renewed subject to performance and project requirements.
The research team is involved in a diverse range of research projects, including but not limited to:
- Population health and health services research
- Clinical and translational research studies
- Digital health and healthcare innovation
- Clinical practice and healthcare delivery improvement initiatives
Key Responsibilities
The Research Assistant/Associate will work closely with Principal Investigators and study team members to support the successful conduct of research projects.
Responsibilities may include:
- Participant recruitment, screening, consent-taking, and follow-up
- Coordination of study activities and research operations
- Administration of questionnaires and interviews
- Collection, entry, cleaning, and verification of research data
- Management of study documentation and regulatory files
- Preparation of ethics submissions and study reports
- Literature reviews and evidence synthesis
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Preparation of research presentations and conference abstracts
- Liaising with investigators, collaborators, clinicians, and research stakeholders
- Other research-related duties as assigned
Research Associates may additionally be expected to:
- Independently oversee assigned studies and projects
- Support grant proposal development
- Lead data analysis, interpretation, and manuscript writing activities.
- Mentor and train junior research staff
- Coordinate collaborations with internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
Research Assistant
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, Psychology, Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related discipline
Research Associate
- Master's degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, Psychology, Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related discipline
For Both Positions
- Strong interest in clinical and health services research
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
- Ability to handle confidential data with discretion and professionalism
- Willingness to travel between study sites when required
