Job Description

The Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN) is seeking a motivated Research Officer position to contribute to high-impact research on inflammation signalling and cancer biology. This position is offered in the Laboratory of Inflammation, Epigenetics and Translational Oncology which is interested in understanding the mechanisms of metastasis and treatment resistance in aggressive cancers during inflammation signalling. We focus on the discovery and characterization of novel oncology targets including long non-coding RNAs and epigenomics signatures in various solid and haematological malignancies, with a mission to catalyze a path towards targeted cancer treatments.

The successful candidate will be expected to be proficient in standard mammalian cell culture, mouse work, and perform a variety of molecular biology techniques including molecular cloning, PCR, western blotting, DNA extraction, RNA isolation, lentivirus production and transduction, and cell-based assays. Additionally, the candidate will assist in laboratory administrative duties such as procurement, inventory monitoring and equipment maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct experiments using standard cell and molecular biology techniques.
  • Perform data analysis of western blotting, cell-based assays and/or molecular cloning results.
  • Able to plan tasks independently, work productively and demonstrate good troubleshooting skills.
  • Assist in the maintenance of mouse colonies and monitoring of animal experiments.
  • Assist in administrative tasks including procurement, inventory monitoring, safety/risk assessment and equipment maintenance.
  • Organize and document experimental procedures and data in the laboratory logbook.
  • Assist in organizing lab inventories and induction of new lab members.
  • Mentor trainees/FYP students/interns, fostering a productive and supportive lab environment.
  • Present findings at lab meetings.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Excellent degree in Cancer Biology, Life Sciences, Molecular Biology or Biomedical Science related fields.
  • Prior experience in driving a wet-lab based FYP project and/or 1-2 years work experience in a relevant research area will be essential.
  • Strong commitment and interest in research, demonstrated from previous research experience.
  • Proficient in mammalian cell culture and various molecular biology techniques.
  • Experienced in animal work and adept in handling mice.
  • Prior experience in spatial transcriptomics, flow cytometry and modern genomics methods (CUT&RUN, ChIP, RNA-seq) will be highly advantageous.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary work environment.
  • Strong team player, independent and meticulous.

Interested candidates are invited to apply with a cover letter stating your research motivation and experience, curriculum vitae and the names and email addresses of three references.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
