The posting
- Carry out day-to-day site supervision of civil and electrical works associated with underground transmission cable installation.
- Inspect and monitor excavation, trenching, shoring, duct / pipe installation, concrete works, joint bays, cable bridges, road opening and reinstatement works.
- Inspect and witness cable-related activities including cable pulling, cable laying, jointing, termination, bonding / earthing works, auxiliary cable works and associated installations.
- Check that site works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, approved method statements, permits, inspection and test plans and relevant statutory requirements.
- Witness site inspections, testing and commissioning activities as directed by the Project Engineer / PMC team, and record results and observations.
- Monitor contractors' work progress, workmanship, manpower deployment and site readiness; highlight delays, constraints, defective work and non-compliances promptly.
- Maintain accurate daily site reports, photographs, inspection records, attendance records, progress information and other documentation required by the PMC team.
- Assist the Project Engineer / Project Manager in verifying completed work, measurements, progress claims, variation-related site records and supporting documents.
- Attend site coordination meetings, inspections and interface meetings when required, and follow up on site action items.
- Coordinate with the main contractor, cable system contractor / OEM, subcontractors, utility agencies and other project stakeholders at site level.
- Actively monitor safe work practices and immediately escalate unsafe conditions, unsafe acts or breaches of approved work procedures to the relevant project and safety personnel.
- Support defect inspections, rectification monitoring, testing after completion and Defects Liability Period activities when required.
- Perform other project supervision duties reasonably assigned by the PMC Project Manager / Project Engineer. Requirements:
- Preferably IES-registered / accredited RTO. Registration in any discipline may be considered, subject to suitability for the assigned works. Candidates without current IES registration may also apply if they have relevant site supervision experience and qualifications.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or another relevant technical / engineering discipline. Candidates with strong relevant experience but a different qualification profile may be considered subject to project / client acceptance.
- Able to read engineering drawings, understand construction sequence, identify basic quality / safety issues and maintain clear factual site records.
- The role may involve night work, Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays according to the contractor's approved work programme and PMC roster.
- Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors, along public roads / construction sites and within controlled work areas, subject to project safety requirements.
