Reporting To: General Manager / Head of Business Unit

With the expansion of our locks business and the addition of an ironmongery business, we are looking for a hands-on Sales & Business Development Manager to help build and grow our combined sales operation.

This is an opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional who wants to have a direct impact on the growth of the business.

THE ROLE

You will take ownership of sales development across our locks and ironmongery businesses, working closely with management and the sales team.

This is a hands-on trade sales role. You will be expected to spend time in the market, visit customers, develop new accounts, reactivate dormant customers and work with the team to increase sales.

The successful candidate will not simply manage existing accounts. You will be expected to actively develop the market and generate new business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Sales Growth

• Develop and execute monthly and annual sales plans.

• Take ownership of sales growth across existing and new customers.

• Develop sales strategies for locks, ironmongery and architectural hardware.

• Monitor monthly sales performance against targets.

• Identify underperforming areas and implement corrective actions.

• Build a healthy and measurable sales pipeline.

2. Customer Development

• Establish regular customer visitation and engagement schedules.

• Develop new accounts among: Hardware shops, Locksmiths, Contractors, Door and gate contractors, Renovation companies, Builders and Other relevant trade customers.

• Reactivate dormant and inactive customers.

• Strengthen relationships with existing customers and increase repeat orders.

• Identify opportunities to increase customer order frequency and basket size.

3. Sales Team Leadership

• Lead and motivate the sales team.

• Set clear sales and customer-development targets.

• Monitor customer visits, quotations, follow-ups and conversion.

• Coach team members on sales techniques and product knowledge.

• Lead by example through direct customer engagement.

• Work with management to address sales performance issues.

4. Product & Market Development

• Develop strong knowledge of locks, ironmongery and architectural hardware.

• Understand customer requirements and identify product gaps.

• Gather market feedback on pricing, products and competitors.

• Recommend new products based on actual market demand.

• Work with management and procurement on product selection and China sourcing.

• Identify opportunities for own-brand and exclusive products.

5. Commercial Management

• Work with management on pricing and sales strategy.

• Understand product margins and commercial requirements.

• Balance sales growth with healthy gross margins.

• Monitor competitor pricing and market activity.

• Support management in developing commercially viable product ranges.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who is hands-on, commercially driven and comfortable working in the Singapore hardware trade.

You should have:

• Sales experience in hardware, locks, ironmongery, building materials, architectural hardware or a related trade.

• Experience developing new customers and growing existing accounts.

• Good understanding of the Singapore hardware/trade customer environment.

• Strong communication and negotiation skills.

• Ability to lead and motivate a sales team.

• Strong follow-up and execution skills.

• Willingness to conduct regular customer visits.

• Ability to work independently and take ownership of sales targets.

• Product knowledge in locks, door hardware or ironmongery is an advantage.

• Existing relationships with hardware shops, locksmiths, contractors or related customers will be highly advantageous.

• Experience with China sourcing or supplier management will be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Develop the sales team's performance.
  • Build a stronger sales pipeline.
  • Increase sales across the locks and ironmongery portfolio.
  • Contribute ideas on products, pricing and market opportunities.

COMPENSATION

Basic Salary: $3,500 – $4,500/month

In addition to the basic salary, the position includes:

  • Sales Commission
  • Monthly Variable Profit Sharing
  • Relevant Allowances

The overall package provides an opportunity for a strong performer to increase their earnings through measurable sales performance.
