Work Location: 220 Lorong Chuan, Singapore 556742 Monthly Salary: S$2200/Month
Contract Period: 1 December 2026 to 30 November 2027. The school may extend the contract from 1 December 2027 to 30 November 2028.
There is no work during these periods:
- 1 December to 27 December 2026
- 31 May to 23 June 2027
Working Hours:
- Mondays to Fridays: 7:15am to 2:15pm, including a 30-minute meal break
- No work on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays
- There is no overtime pay
Key Responsibilities
1. Laboratory preparation and setup
- Prepare materials, apparatus and specimens for science lessons and the annual practical test
- Set up and test experimental apparatus before lessons to make sure it works and is safe
- Assist teachers with practical lessons, practical tests, demonstrations and science experiments
- Dismantle and clean up after science lab lessons, making sure all equipment is properly stored
2. Laboratory maintenance and housekeeping
- Keep laboratories, preparation rooms and storage areas clean and tidy
- Clean and wash laboratory apparatus, glassware and equipment after use
- Make sure equipment and facilities are well maintained and in working condition
- Assist with regular pest control, ventilation and general upkeep of laboratory areas
3. Safety and compliance
- Make sure safety guidelines are followed
- Keep Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals and make sure bottles and containers are properly labelled
- Assist with safe storage, handling and disposal of chemicals and biological waste
4. Inventory and resource management
- Carry out simple stock-taking and update inventory records regularly
- Prepare and propose purchases of science materials and equipment to the HOD Science / LH Science
- Receive and check deliveries of items ordered, and make sure they are properly stored
5. Support for green environment and Science department initiatives
- Maintain live stock such as plants and other living specimens used in science lessons
- Maintain and monitor the indoor hydroponic system, and support the upkeep of garden green spaces
- Assist teachers in preparing materials for teaching and learning and for recess programme activities
Job Requirements
Academic qualifications (minimum):
- GCE 'O' Level certificate with passes in Science subjects, or
- Nitec or Higher Nitec in a science-related discipline
Knowledge and skills:
- Basic understanding of scientific apparatus
- Competent in handling reagents and simple experimental set-ups
Experience:
- Prior experience in a school laboratory role is an advantage.
