Working hours: • Mondays to Fridays: 7:15am to 2.15 pm, inclusive of 0.5 hr meal break. • Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays

Scope of services:

1.Laboratory Preparation and Setup • Prepare materials, apparatus, and/ specimens for science lessons and annual practical test. • Set up and test experimental apparatus before lessons to ensure functionality and safety. • Assist teachers in conducting practical lessons, practical test, demonstrations, and science experiments. • Dismantle and clean up after science laboratory lessons, ensuring all equipment are properly stored.

2.Laboratory Maintenance and Housekeeping • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of laboratories, preparation rooms, and storage areas. • Clean and wash laboratory apparatus, glassware, and equipment after use. • Ensure that equipment and facilities are well-maintained and in working condition. • Assist in regular pest control, ventilation, and general upkeep of laboratory areas.

3.Safety and Compliance • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines. • Keep Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals and ensure proper labelling of bottles and containers. • Assist in the safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and biological waste.

4.Inventory and Resource Management • Conduct simple stock-taking and update inventory records regularly. • Prepare and propose procurement of science materials and equipment to HOD Science/ LH Science. • Receive and verify delivery of items ordered and ensure proper storage.

5.Support for Green Environment/ Science department Initiatives • Maintain life stocks such as plants and other living specimens used in science lessons. • Maintain and monitor the operations of indoor hydroponic system, support the upkeep of garden green spaces. • Assist teachers in preparing materials for teaching and learning/ recess programme activities.

Officer will report to the Head of Department (Science). There is no overtime pay.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

1.Academic Qualifications • GCE ‘O’ Level certification with passes in science subjects OR • Nitec or Higher Nitec in a science-related discipline

The Personnel shall minimally have the following knowledge and skills: 2.Knowledge and Skills • Basic understanding of scientific apparatus. • Competent in handling reagents and simple experimental set ups.

3.Experience • Prior experience in a school laboratory role is an advantage, but fresh graduates are welcome.

4.Personal Qualities • Responsible and safety conscious • Good communication and organisational skills • Good housekeeping skills and cleaning practices • Punctual, reliable, able to work independently under minimal supervision. • Adaptable and willing to learn

5. Other requirements • Physically fit to handle laboratory duties
