The posting
(i) Maintain a safe, clean and tidy laboratory environment at all times, ensuring all apparatus, equipment, materials and specimens are in good working condition and ready for use.
(ii) Promptly report faulty machines and equipment to the relevant supervisor and display an “Out of Order” sign on affected items until rectified.
(iii) Ensure proper disposal of broken glassware and other breakages in accordance with prevailing safety procedures and regulations.
(iv) Conduct regular inspection of Bunsen burners and high-risk items (e.g. data loggers and microscopes) to ensure they are in good working condition and secure them under lock and key after use.
(v) Maintain an up-to-date stock book and breakage record and highlight items requiring replacement to the relevant supervisor in a timely manner.
(vi) Check and replenish first aid supplies at regular intervals to ensure adequate stock levels are always maintained.
(vii) Assist Science teachers in the preparation for the conduct of lessons and post-lesson clearing of laboratory equipment/apparatus as and when required.
(viii) Perform any other duties as assigned by the Science Head of Department (HOD).
