Job Summary

Provides legal support for a business division or legal practice area.

What You Will Do

  • Advising management and providing clear recommendations on legal matters and related risks.
  • Providing legal support for a business division or significant legal practice area through supervision of a team, or coordination of a network of legal professionals, or serving as a subject matter expert.
  • Researching complex legal issues and reviewing and drafting legal documents consistent with legal strategies and goals in line with company's business objectives.

What You Have

Risk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Debates the pros and cons of various risk management models.
  • Implements function-wide risk management processes and tools.
  • Designs cross-functional risk management processes, tools, and audit mechanisms.
  • Measures key benefits and drawbacks for specific risk management practices.
  • Relates risk assessment models and analysis tools and processes to own business.
  • Establishes key business-specific risk management benchmarks.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Differentiates assumptions, perspectives, and historical frameworks.
  • Evaluates past decisions for insights to improve decision-making process.
  • Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact.
  • Advises others in analyzing and synthesizing relevant data and assessing alternatives.
  • Uses effective decision-making approaches such as consultative, command, or consensus.
  • Ensures that assumptions and received wisdom are objectively analyzed in decisions.

  • Participates in discussions with professionals in order to break down legal issues into understandable concepts.
  • Selects legal documents and research tools to be utilized by the legal department.
  • Interprets major types of legal analysis required by the organization.

Legal Function: Knowledge of the major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the legal function or department; ability to provide legal consulting, advice and assistance.

  • Works with major units or sub-functions of the legal department.
  • Monitors major current legal challenges, initiatives and issues.
  • Works with common transactions and documents processed by the legal department.
  • Explains the mission, vision and objectives of the legal function.
  • Adheres to organizational standards and procedures for the legal department.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • Experience in Multinational Organizations: Demonstrated success working within complex, global business environments.
  • Strong Stakeholder Management Skills: Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functions, regions, and leadership levels.
