The posting

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize mission-critical database environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including database administration, performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, security, and automation.

You will work closely with application, infrastructure, cloud, and business teams to ensure database availability, reliability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Microsoft SQL Server Administration

  • Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain SQL Server environments.
  • Administer SQL Server 2016/2019/2022.
  • Support AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Clustering, Replication, and Log Shipping.
  • Perform database backup, recovery, refresh, and cloning.
  • Monitor database health, performance, and capacity.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Implement database security, auditing, and compliance controls.

PostgreSQL Administration

  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain PostgreSQL databases.
  • Administer PostgreSQL 12–16 environments.
  • Support streaming replication, logical replication, and high availability solutions.
  • Perform database, query, index, and configuration tuning.
  • Manage PostgreSQL upgrades and migrations.
  • Administer backup and recovery solutions.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively identify bottlenecks.
  • Manage schemas, roles, privileges, and extensions.

Performance & Capacity Management

  • Analyze and optimize database performance.
  • Identify and resolve slow-running queries.
  • Perform query, index, and statistics optimization.
  • Conduct database growth forecasting and capacity planning.
  • Optimize resource utilization across database environments.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

  • Support HA/DR database architectures.
  • Conduct disaster recovery testing and failover exercises.
  • Maintain and validate backup and recovery strategies.
  • Ensure database environments meet defined RTO/RPO requirements.

Database Security & Compliance

  • Implement database security best practices.
  • Manage database users, roles, privileges, and authentication.
  • Support vulnerability remediation and security audits.
  • Implement encryption, password policies, and governance controls.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Automation

Automate DBA activities using:

  • Ansible
  • PowerShell
  • Shell scripting
  • SQL scripting

Develop automation workflows for:

  • Database provisioning
  • Backup validation
  • Database health checks
  • Patching
  • Database refresh and cloning

Production Support

  • Provide L3/L4 support for critical production database environments.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call support.
  • Support Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
  • Work with application and infrastructure teams during outages and major incidents.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and support technical improvement initiatives.
