The posting

Senior Design Engineer

As a Senior Design Engineer within the Singapore-based Design Engineering team, you will be instrumental in guiding new product categories from their earliest conceptual stages through to successful production. You will be responsible for designing complex mechanical assemblies and product systems, ensuring they meet exacting standards for performance, reliability, quality, and user experience.

This role involves close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, researchers, manufacturing specialists, operations personnel, quality teams, and external development partners. You will drive ideas through comprehensive prototyping, rigorous testing, and ultimately into manufacturing. This position offers significant scope to apply deep technical expertise, collaborate across various functional areas, and utilize evidence-based decision-making to overcome intricate engineering challenges.

You will also work in conjunction with global engineering teams to develop assembly-level designs and robust manufacturing solutions. Partnering with category experts and support teams, you will contribute to defining critical design requirements and evaluating potential solutions. Beyond your technical contributions, you will help cultivate a collaborative and inclusive team culture, mentoring colleagues, sharing knowledge, and supporting the team in achieving outstanding engineering outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of complex product assemblies and sub-systems from concept through production, ensuring adherence to critical requirements for performance, safety, reliability, quality, cost, and timing.
  • Translate complex or evolving technical challenges into clear, actionable design requirements, specifications, and interfaces for interconnected systems and assemblies.
  • Generate, evaluate, and refine design concepts through comprehensive analysis, hands-on prototyping, rigorous testing, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Proactively identify technical risks and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to develop and implement robust mitigation plans.
  • Build and rigorously test functional prototypes, utilizing insights gained from testing to enhance product performance, robustness, and overall user experience.
  • Partner closely with manufacturing, operations, and supplier teams to ensure designs are scalable, manufacturable, and ready for efficient production.
  • Develop and review 3D CAD, 2D drawings, tolerance analyses and engineering documentation to support development, validation and manufacturing release.
  • Actively contribute to design and technical reviews, clearly communicating complex engineering concepts and supporting evidence-based technical decisions.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers and graduates, sharing expertise, fostering a learning environment, and encouraging professional growth within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a closely related technical field
  • A minimum 3 years of relevant experience in product design and development, ideally within a fast-paced R&D or manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design and development of complex mechanical assemblies and product systems
  • Proficiency in developing and reviewing 3D CAD models, 2D engineering drawings, conducting tolerance analyses, and preparing comprehensive engineering documentation
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture (DFM) principles
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to engineering challenges
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
