JOB SUMMARY

YMCA of Singapore nurtures emerging leaders and empowers youths to become compassionate changemakers who create meaningful impact in their communities. Through key programmes such as University-YMCA (Uni-Y), Youth For Causes (YFC) and International Service Programmes (ISP), we provide youths with opportunities to lead, serve and grow.

The Senior Executive (Uni-Y) exists to grow and strengthen University-YMCA (Uni-Y) — YMCA of Singapore's network of youth service clubs at NTU, NUS, SMU and SUTD — so that more young people are developed as servant leaders who go on to serve their campuses and communities. Working within the Youth Leadership Development (YLD) department, the role combines direct mentorship of student leaders with programme design, partnership-building across Institutes of Higher Learning and community stakeholders, and the day-to-day stewardship of club operations, so that Uni-Y continues to grow in reach, relevance and impact in support of YMCA's broader mission to nurture youth as changemakers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Youth Leadership & Uni-Y Club Development
  • Lead the planning and implementation of Uni-Y workplans in alignment with YMCA's strategic priorities.
  • Recruit, mentor and support Uni-Y Executive Committee members, equipping them with leadership competencies to effectively lead their respective clubs.
  • Guide Uni-Y clubs in planning and delivering meaningful service-learning initiatives that benefit both youths and the communities they serve.
  • Cultivate the clubs' leadership culture and Christian development through initiatives such as Connect Groups, Worship Nights and other developmental platforms. 2. Programme & Volunteer Management
  • Support the Manager in designing and implementing a structured volunteer management framework covering volunteer recruitment, onboarding, engagement, development, retention and progression.
  • Design and implement initiatives to grow youth volunteer participation and strengthen volunteer engagement across Uni-Y.
  • Drive the branding and visibility of service clubs to amplify outreach, showcase organisational impact and encourage wider community engagement in service. 3. Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with Institutes of Higher Learning and strategic stakeholders to support programme delivery and expand YMCA's youth development network.
  • Support outreach efforts to establish new collaborations and expand YMCA's youth development network. 4. Impact Measurement & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor programme performance through volunteer participation, engagement and leadership development indicators.
  • Analyse programme data and feedback to evaluate outcomes, identify improvement opportunities and enhance programme effectiveness.
  • Assist manager in preparing reports and presentations to communicate programme outcomes and impact to management, partners and funders. 5. Governance & Administration
  • Manage programme budgets and ensure proper utilisation of resources in accordance with YMCA's financial policies.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records, programme documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies, school requirements, safeguarding practices and operational procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree or diploma in any discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably working with youths in the social service sector, government agencies, or Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs).
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills – applicant must have a passion for youth empowerment and leadership development. Having past mentoring experiences will be an advantage.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with demonstrated ability to design and deliver events from concept to execution, manage resources and teams, proactively mitigate risks, and adapt to evolving operational needs.
  • Leadership and supervisory qualities - A self-starter who demonstrates sound judgment and clarity of thought, with the ability to make informed decisions confidently and provide guidance when needed.
  • Team player - Demonstrates a strong collaborative mindset, actively contributes to shared goals, and fosters a supportive and cooperative team environment.
  • Working on Saturdays and weekday nights are required occasionally, due to the job nature and students’ availabilities

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
