Senior General Ledger Accountant / GL Accounting Manager

Location: Wanchai, Hong Kong

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the company’s general ledger and daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of high-volume cross-border transactions across multiple countries and currencies.
  • Handle monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet accounts and other accounting adjustments.
  • Perform and review reconciliations of bank accounts, transaction flows, payment channels and settlement accounts, and resolve transaction discrepancies, refunds, chargebacks and other exceptions in a timely manner.
  • Handle accounting for multi-currency and cross-border transactions, including foreign exchange gains and losses and related financial accounting.
  • Prepare financial accounting and reporting in accordance with Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards (HKFRS), ensuring compliance with applicable Hong Kong regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in annual budgeting, financial planning, forecasting and cash flow planning, including Budget vs. Actual analysis, and provide financial analysis and decision support to management.

Manager-Level Responsibilities:

  • Manage the finance and accounting function, establish and improve financial processes, internal controls and financial management systems, and provide guidance to the finance team.
  • Work closely with senior management and business teams to analyze revenue, transaction costs, profitability and cash flow related to the cross-border acquiring business, supporting business growth and strategic decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline. HKICPA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, with solid experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting and month-end closing.
  • Strong knowledge of and hands-on experience in applying Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards (HKFRS) to accounting and financial reporting.
  • Experience in handling and reconciling multi-country, multi-currency and high-volume transaction flows.
  • Strong experience in transaction reconciliation, settlement, financial analysis and foreign exchange accounting.
  • Experience in cross-border payments, payment acquiring, Fintech, e-wallets or other financial services is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin and Cantonese, with the ability to communicate with the Shanghai team in Mandarin. Basic English reading and writing skills are required for daily coordination and reviewing business and financial documents.

Manager-Level Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing or supervising finance/accounting teams, with the ability to establish and optimize financial processes and internal control systems.
  • Solid experience in Financial Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting and Cash Flow Management, with the ability to provide financial insights and business decision support to senior management.
