Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Specialist – Foreign Exchange (FX) to support product research and development activities within a Transaction Banking environment.

The role will focus on understanding business and customer needs, researching market offerings and opportunities, and developing new or enhanced FX-related product propositions for corporate banking customers.

The successful candidate will work closely with Transaction Banking, Product, Relationship Management, Treasury/Markets, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Technology and other relevant stakeholders to analyse requirements, develop product concepts and progress product initiatives toward implementation.

This role requires strong knowledge of Foreign Exchange within a corporate or Transaction Banking context, together with the ability to research markets, evaluate business opportunities and develop products that address customer needs.

The candidate should be proactive, commercially aware and comfortable working in an evolving environment where the product concept or target solution may not initially be fully defined.

Responsibilities and Duties

Product Research & Development

  • Research market trends, customer needs, competitor offerings and emerging developments within Foreign Exchange.
  • Analyse the bank's existing FX capabilities and identify product gaps, enhancement opportunities and potential new propositions.
  • Develop new or enhanced FX product concepts based on: o Business requirements o Customer feedback o Market trends o Competitive offerings o Regulatory and operational considerations
  • Assess whether identified customer or business needs can be addressed through existing capabilities, enhancements or development of new products.
  • Define product propositions covering: o Target customer segments o Business use cases o Customer value proposition o Product features and capabilities o Market differentiation o Business and operational considerations
  • Support preparation of product proposals, business cases and internal approval materials.
  • Support product roadmap development and prioritisation of product enhancements.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to strengthen the bank's FX proposition for corporate customers.

Foreign Exchange Product Analysis

  • Analyse corporate customer needs relating to Foreign Exchange and cross-border transactions.
  • Assess potential product opportunities involving areas such as: o FX conversion o Cross-border payments involving FX o Multi-currency requirements o FX pricing and rate propositions o Corporate FX booking or execution channels o FX-related transaction-banking services
  • Understand relevant FX concepts and business processes, including: o Currency pairs o Exchange rates o FX pricing o FX transaction lifecycle o Settlement considerations o Customer FX requirements
  • Work with relevant Treasury, Markets or FX stakeholders to understand existing capabilities and product constraints.
  • Analyse how FX capabilities may complement broader Transaction Banking products such as payments, cash management and cross-border services.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the customer experience or product proposition through new FX capabilities.

Business & Customer Needs Analysis

  • Work with Relationship Managers, Transaction Bankers and other internal stakeholders to understand customer feedback and business requirements.
  • Analyse customer use cases and translate them into potential FX product propositions.
  • Conduct market, competitor and product benchmarking.
  • Identify market gaps and potential opportunities for product differentiation.
  • Assess the commercial applicability and potential customer value of new or enhanced FX products.
  • Ensure products are designed so that Relationship Managers and Transaction. Banking teams can effectively position them to customers.
  • Support internal teams with product information, proposition materials and business rationale where required.

Stakeholder & Initiative Management

  • Coordinate with stakeholders across Transaction Banking, Product, Relationship Management, Treasury/Markets, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal and Technology.
  • Facilitate discussions to clarify business requirements and evaluate product options.
  • Proactively follow up on actions, issues, decisions and dependencies.
  • Drive product research and development activities where the business problem or target solution may initially be unclear.
  • Challenge existing approaches and recommend improvements to products or processes.
  • Support stakeholder alignment and internal product approval processes.
  • Coordinate activities required to move approved product concepts toward implementation and launch.

Qualifications

Must Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Banking, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within Transaction Banking, Foreign Exchange, Corporate Banking Product, Treasury Product or a related banking function.
  • Strong working knowledge of Foreign Exchange within a corporate or Transaction Banking context.
  • Experience in product development, product management, product strategy, product enhancement or banking product solutioning.
  • Ability to understand customer and business needs and translate them into practical product propositions.
  • Good understanding of FX concepts such as: o Currency pairs o Exchange rates o FX pricing o Cross-border transactions o FX settlement considerations
  • Experience conducting market research, competitor analysis or product benchmarking.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.
  • Able to independently research and structure new product opportunities.
  • Comfortable working in an environment where requirements and product direction may continue to evolve.
  • Able to identify gaps, propose improvements and drive product initiatives toward resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred / Advantageous

  • Experience developing or managing FX products for corporate banking customers.
  • Knowledge of products such as FX Spot, Forward, Swap or NDF.
  • Experience with corporate FX pricing, execution or digital FX channels.
  • Experience developing products combining FX with payments, cash management or cross-border transaction services.
  • Experience within a regional or multi-country Transaction Banking environment.
  • Experience working with Relationship Managers, Transaction Banking teams or Treasury/Markets stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing product proposals, business cases, market assessments or product launch materials.
  • Experience acting as a Product Manager, Product Specialist, Product Owner or Product Development Lead
