Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Specialist – Regional Payments & Cash Management to support a strategic Transaction Banking initiative covering multiple Asian markets.

The role will focus on researching market and customer needs, identifying product gaps and opportunities, and developing new or enhanced Payments and Cash Management propositions for corporate banking customers. The regional scope includes Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and Malaysia.

The successful candidate will work closely with Transaction Banking, Product, Relationship Management, Sales, Operations, Compliance, Risk, Technology and regional stakeholders to understand business needs, assess market practices, develop product concepts and drive product initiatives toward implementation.

The candidate should have strong Transaction Banking, Payments or Cash Management domain knowledge, together with the ability to independently research, structure and progress new product initiatives in an environment where requirements and solutions may still be evolving.

Responsibilities and Duties

Product Research & Development

  • Research market trends, customer needs, competitor offerings and emerging developments within Payments and Cash Management.
  • Analyse existing product capabilities and identify gaps, enhancement opportunities and potential new product propositions.
  • Develop product concepts based on business needs, customer feedback, market practices and commercial opportunities.
  • Assess whether identified requirements can be addressed through existing capabilities, product enhancements or development of new products.
  • Define product propositions including: o Target customer segments o Customer needs and use cases o Product capabilities o Customer benefits o Market differentiation o Business and operational considerations
  • Support the preparation of product proposals, business cases and internal approval materials.
  • Support development of product roadmaps and prioritisation of enhancement opportunities.
  • Monitor market developments and continuously identify opportunities to improve the bank's transaction-banking offering.

Regional Payments & Cash Management

  • Analyse regional and country-specific requirements relating to: o Domestic and cross-border payments o Real-time / instant payments o ACH and domestic clearing o RTGS / high-value payments o Payroll and bulk payments o Collections o Tax and statutory payments o Bill and utility payments o Cheque payments o Corporate connectivity o Reporting and reconciliation
  • Understand how regional product propositions can support both common requirements and local-market needs.
  • Research country-specific payment capabilities, market practices and payment infrastructures.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance regional payment and collection services through local-market capabilities.
  • Consider customer needs relating to Host-to-Host, file-based connectivity, APIs and other corporate-banking channels.
  • Analyse customer requirements for transaction visibility, consolidated reporting and reconciliation.
  • Identify opportunities to create a more consistent and integrated regional payment proposition across multiple markets.

Regional Market Knowledge

Relevant domestic payment and clearing infrastructures may include:

  • Singapore: MEPS+, FAST, PayNow, Interbank GIRO
  • Hong Kong: CHATS, FPS
  • Indonesia: BI-FAST, SKNBI, BI-RTGS
  • Philippines: PESONet, PhilPaSS / PhilPaSSplus, Real-Time / InstaPay
  • Thailand: Domestic Payment, SMART, BAHTNET, Cheque Payment, PromptPay
  • Vietnam: Domestic / CITAD, IBPS, NAPAS 247
  • Myanmar: CBM-NET / CBM-NET2, MPU, MyanmarPay / MMQR
  • Malaysia: RENTAS, RPP / DuitNow, Interbank GIRO

Candidates are not expected to have experience across every market or payment scheme but should have sufficient regional transaction-banking experience to research and understand new market requirements.

Business & Customer Needs Analysis

  • Work with Relationship Managers, Transaction Bankers and other internal stakeholders to understand customer feedback, pain points and emerging requirements.
  • Translate customer and market needs into potential product opportunities.
  • Analyse corporate customer use cases and assess the applicability of existing or new banking products.
  • Conduct competitor and benchmark analysis to understand comparable market offerings.
  • Identify potential opportunities for product differentiation, cross-sell and upsell.
  • Ensure new and enhanced products can be effectively positioned by Relationship

Managers and Transaction Banking teams.

  • Consider regulatory, operational and market-specific requirements when developing product propositions.

Stakeholder & Initiative Management

  • Coordinate with stakeholders across Product, Transaction Banking, Relationship Management, Operations, Compliance, Risk, Legal, Technology and regional teams.
  • Facilitate discussions to refine product concepts and resolve open questions.
  • Proactively follow up on decisions, actions, dependencies and productdevelopment activities.
  • Drive product initiatives in situations where the business requirement or target solution may not yet be fully defined.
  • Challenge assumptions and recommend practical improvements to existing products and processes.
  • Support internal stakeholder alignment and product approval processes.
  • Coordinate activities required to progress approved product concepts toward implementation and launch.

Qualifications

Must Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Banking, Finance, Economics, Information Systems or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within Transaction Banking, Payments, Cash Management, Corporate Banking Product or a related banking function.
  • Strong working knowledge of Payments and/or Cash Management products.
  • Experience in product development, product management, product strategy, product enhancement or banking solution design.
  • Ability to understand corporate customer needs and translate them into practical banking product propositions.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic and/or cross-border payment processes.
  • Experience conducting market research, competitor analysis or product benchmarking.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and presentation skills.
  • Able to work independently and proactively in an environment where product requirements and direction may continue to evolve.
  • Able to identify opportunities, propose improvements and drive initiatives toward decisions and implementation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred / Advantageous

  • Experience with regional or multi-country Transaction Banking products in Asia.
  • Exposure to one or more of the following markets: Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar or Malaysia.
  • Experience with corporate payment connectivity such as H2H, APIs or file-based channels.
  • Experience with collections, transaction reporting and reconciliation solutions.
  • Knowledge of local regulatory, statutory, tax or market-specific payment requirements.
  • Experience working with Relationship Managers or Transaction Banking sales team to develop products for corporate customers.
  • Experience acting as a Product Manager, Product Specialist, Product Owner or Product Development Lead.
