About the role
The Speech and Language Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality speech and language therapy services that support individuals in achieving effective communication, safe swallowing, functional independence, and improved quality of life. The role provides advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention for clients with speech, language, communication, voice, fluency, feeding, or swallowing needs arising from developmental, physical, cognitive, or psychosocial conditions.
In addition, the Senior Speech and Language Therapist offers professional leadership through supervision, mentoring, and guidance of junior therapists and the different stakeholders, while contributing to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The role ensures evidence-based practice, compliance with professional standards, and a client-centred approach to care across all areas of service delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Hold responsibility for Speech-language Therapy programmes including programme planning timelines and administration
- Support the Director of Therapy and Pastoral Care to develop, implement and maintain Speech-language Therapy services including peer consultation, referral delegation of clients, clinical policies and guidelines
- Attend monthly Speech-language Therapy meetings to provide peer supervision, case discussion, discuss student goals and plans, and organise/provide internal CPD
- Participate in regular multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individualized education plans and intervention plans
- Assist with the integrated therapy service model collaborating with the therapy and teaching team
- Provide and document general supervision to SLT Interns and implement supervision in line with the AHPC Singapore Supervisory framework
- Provide education and training to parents, teachers and other professionals including awareness talks, in-service training, and workshops
- Ensure safety standards of therapy rooms and spaces through continual observation of health and safety hazards
- Promote development of speech and language skills of students including speech clarity, phonological skills, language comprehension and expression, social communication, and executive functions
- Provide targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and Speech-language performance within diverse school environments
- Provide Integrated support including push-in classroom support and pull-out groups to students on a weekly basis
- Carry out an average of five Group Therapy sessions per week
- Conduct observations, administer screening tools and provide written feedback during screening for students
- Ensure all therapy sessions are documented and maintain up-to-date documentation in each student profile
- Ensure documented and consistent communication with parents, caregivers and professionals
- Conduct regular documentation audits concerning Speech-language Therapy to ensure record keeping meets AHPC regulatory standards
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, rules, regulations and Code of Conduct of the Department and School
- Attend weekly teacher-staff meetings and accompany students on field trips
About you
- Tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Speech Language Therapy
- Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council, Singapore
- At least 4 years of relevant experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, Google Classroom and ability to use digital resources and educational technology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to engage effectively with staff members, children, parents and other associated professionals
- Good time management skills
- Problem solver with a positive and growth mindset
