Job Title: Setter (Technician)

The Setter / Technician is responsible forsetting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining production machinery toensure efficient manufacturing operations. The role involves machine setup,tool changeovers, process adjustments, quality checks, and preventivemaintenance to achieve production targets while maintaining safety and qualitystandards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Machine Setup & Operation

  • Set up production machines according to production schedules and work instructions.
  • Perform tooling changes, machine adjustments, and parameter settings.
  • Ensure machines are operating efficiently and producing products according to specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Conduct trial runs and first-piece inspections before production commencement.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

  • Diagnose and resolve machine malfunctions, breakdowns, and process issues.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic repairs.
  • Escalate major equipment issues to the Maintenance Department when required.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness and ensure good housekeeping practices.

Quality Control

  • Conduct in-process inspections and verify product quality against specifications.
  • Utilize measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Identify and report non-conforming products and process deviations.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

Production Support

  • Ensure production targets and delivery schedules are met.
  • Minimize machine downtime and material wastage.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Assist in new product setup and process validation activities.

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to workplace safety procedures and company regulations.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow quality management system requirements and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in safety and quality audits when required.

Job Requirements

Education

  • NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related disciplines.

Experience

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience in CNC machining, metal stamping, injection molding, assembly, or automated production equipment will be an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of machine setup and tooling adjustment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and production specifications.
  • Basic understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with measuring instruments and quality inspection procedures.
  • Basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
