Position Overview

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Site Project Engineer to join our team, specifically to support SP Group’s Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) extension and maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between field execution and project management, ensuring that complex electrical infrastructure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with utility standards.

This role requires a blend of field supervision and electrical technical knowledge, ensuring that all site works are executed to the highest quality and safety specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Technical Oversight

  • Supervise daily on-site activities for GIS installation, extension, and routine maintenance projects.
  • Apply fundamental electrical knowledge to inspect and troubleshoot site installation works, ensuring they meet project specifications and SP Group requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance for GIS-related operations, equipment testing, and system integrity checks.

Safety & Permit Management

  • Act as an authorized signatory for Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and verify safety protocols for all high-risk maintenance and extension works.
  • Enforce rigorous safety standards in high-voltage or restricted environments, ensuring all personnel comply with SP Group’s safety mandates.

Project Coordination & Reporting

  • Serve as the primary link between the field team and the Project Management office.
  • Support the Project Manager by preparing detailed progress reports, maintaining site logs, and managing documentation related to maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure accurate, real-time reporting of site progress, challenges, and resource requirements.

Requirements

Technical Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven experience in project engineering, specifically within electrical utility or infrastructure environments.
  • Expertise: Fundamental understanding of electrical systems, with specific exposure to Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) extension and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Certifications: Must possess valid PSM-SP (Process Safety Management - SP Group) and CSOC (Construction Safety Orientation Course).

Operational Requirements

  • Mobility: Must possess own reliable transportation to facilitate regular travel between various project sites and the office.
  • Communication: Strong organizational and reporting skills; ability to clearly communicate technical field observations to the Project Manager.
  • Accountability: Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining strong accountability to project deadlines and quality standards

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
