The posting

Department: Maintenance Reports To: Hotel Manager / Hotel Management

1. Job Purpose

The Hotel Technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, inspection, and upkeep of hotel facilities, equipment, and building systems to ensure they remain safe, functional, and in good working condition.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Preventive Maintenance

  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance and routine inspections.
  • Maintain and service hotel equipment and facilities according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Record completed maintenance works and report any recurring or potential issues.
  • Ensure maintenance areas and equipment are kept in good working condition.

B. Repairs & Troubleshooting

  • Attend to maintenance requests from guest rooms, public areas, offices, and back-of-house areas.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning, mechanical, carpentry, and general building maintenance issues within the scope of competency.
  • Escalate major or technical issues to the Chief Engineer / Engineering Manager.
  • Engage approved contractors or specialists where required.

C. Hotel Facilities & Equipment

  • Maintain hotel guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, staff facilities, and engineering equipment.
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues affecting hotel operations.
  • Support maintenance requirements for hotel events and operational activities.

D. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow workplace safety requirements, safe work practices, and proper use of PPE and tools.
  • Do not carry out work beyond the required competency, authorization, or certification.
  • Report safety hazards, defects, and unsafe conditions immediately to the supervisor.
  • Follow applicable Singapore laws, regulations, licensing requirements, and safety standards relevant to the work.

E. Work Orders & Documentation

  • Complete maintenance work orders and service records accurately.
  • Maintain proper records of inspections, servicing, repairs, and contractor works.
  • Report recurring faults and recommend appropriate follow-up action.

F. Contractor & Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate with approved contractors and service providers when required.
  • Ensure contractors follow hotel safety and operational requirements while working on-site.
  • Check completed works and report any outstanding issues to the supervisor.

3. General Duties

  • Maintain a professional and service-oriented attitude at all times.
  • Respect guest privacy and maintain confidentiality of hotel and guest information.
  • Keep engineering rooms, workshops, tools, and work areas clean and organised.
  • Use hotel equipment, tools, utilities, and resources responsibly.
  • Support the Engineering team during emergencies or operational requirements.
  • Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the supervisor or management.

4. Qualifications & Requirements

  • Relevant technical / engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
  • Previous hotel, building, facilities, or general maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning, mechanical, and general building maintenance.
  • Relevant licences or certifications where legally required.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to respond to operational and emergency maintenance requirements.
