Support Critical Utility Systems in a GMP-Regulated Manufacturing Environment

We are seeking an experienced Utility Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team supporting critical utility systems within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. This role provides an opportunity to take ownership of essential utility operations, lead technical investigations, and contribute to utility-related projects and system improvements.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure critical utilities remain reliable, compliant, and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide engineering support for critical utility systems, including Reverse Osmosis (RO), Water for Injection (WFI), clean steam, and other associated clean utility systems.
  • Take ownership of change control activities for utility projects involving the installation, modification, or upgrading of equipment and systems, including RO and WFI facilities.
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, reliability, and performance of critical utility equipment.
  • Lead and support investigations into utility-related deviations and events using TrackWise, ensuring appropriate documentation and follow-up actions.
  • Perform detailed troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for equipment breakdowns, system abnormalities, and operational issues.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to identify corrective and preventive actions and drive timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Support utility engineering projects from planning through implementation, ensuring technical requirements and applicable GMP standards are met.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing utility reliability, operational efficiency, and system compliance.
  • Ensure critical utility systems are maintained in a state of control and remain aligned with site engineering and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline, or higher.
  • 4–10 years of relevant engineering experience in utilities, facilities, manufacturing, or a related environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems is essential.
  • Practical experience with WFI, clean steam, and other critical/clean utility systems.
  • Strong understanding of utility equipment operation, maintenance, reliability, and troubleshooting.
  • Prior experience in a GMP-regulated environment is essential; pharmaceutical industry experience is not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, investigation, and root-cause problem-solving skills.
  • Experience handling technical investigations, change controls, and engineering projects independently.
  • Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams while managing multiple technical activities and priorities.

Why Join?

This is an excellent opportunity for a Utility Engineer looking to broaden their exposure to critical utilities, GMP compliance, technical investigations, and engineering projects. You will play an important role in maintaining the reliability and compliance of essential utility systems within a structured and highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
