The posting

  • Permanent position based in Singapore
  • Remuneration Package: Up to $6000 + Attractive Variable Bonus
  • Work Location: Central near MRT Station
  • Remote Support the IT infrastructure of vessels operating globally
  • Strong exposure to networking, servers, cybersecurity and maritime communications

We are assisting our client, a leading global maritime and feeder solutions provider, in hiring a Vessel IT Engineer. This role is ideal for a hands-on IT support professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues and supporting mission-critical operations. You will provide remote L2 and L3 technical support to vessels, working closely with captains and ship crew to ensure reliable onboard IT connectivity and system availability.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Build specialised expertise in vessel IT, maritime communications and cybersecurity.
  • Support a global fleet and solve varied, business-critical technical challenges.
  • Gain exposure beyond conventional office-based or cloud-only IT support.
  • Work with multicultural teams across international shipping operations.
  • Develop your career within a stable and globally established maritime organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide remote L2 and L3 technical support to vessels, captains and ship crew.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, network and communication-system issues remotely.
  • Manage, support, maintain and upgrade onboard IT infrastructure across the vessel fleet.
  • Support vessel networks, servers, workstations, Wi-Fi infrastructure, firewalls, switches, UPS, storage and backup systems.
  • Install, configure and optimise Microsoft environments, including Windows Server, Windows 10, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Hyper-V.
  • Monitor system performance, connectivity, availability and reliability across onboard environments.
  • Perform remote system, security and network updates or upgrades.
  • Maintain cybersecurity controls, antivirus protection, system backups and disaster-recovery solutions.
  • Liaise with captains, ship crew, vendors and other IT teams to coordinate troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Participate in improvements to vessel IT infrastructure, communication systems and operational processes.
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support as part of an on-call rotation to support vessels operating around the clock.
  • Board vessels occasionally for IT audits or ad-hoc technical work when required.

Key Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant IT infrastructure, technical support or systems-engineering experience within maritime industry
  • Vessel IT or maritime technology support experience will be highly regarded.
  • Hands-on experience in onsite infrastructure support, rather than primarily cloud-based Microsoft 365 support.
  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities across servers, networks, hardware, connectivity and end-user systems.
  • Experience handling L2 escalations; candidates capable of independently resolving L3 technical issues will have a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V, network switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi, UPS, storage, backup and replication systems.
  • Familiarity with satellite communications, radio systems or vessel automation systems would be advantageous.
  • Cybersecurity implementation or support experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable communicating remotely with captains and multinational ship crews who may have varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Resilient and adaptable, with the flexibility to support 24/7 vessel operations and work extended hours when critical incidents arise.
  • Able to troubleshoot independently under pressure, particularly when supporting remote locations with limited onsite assistance.
  • Proactive, self-motivated and genuinely interested in hands-on IT infrastructure support.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
