This role will oversee the daily operations of assigned tanker vessels, including voyage coordination, agency appointments, vessel movements, bunker planning, Q88/HVPQ updates, voyage expenses, laytime support and coordination with ship managers, charterers, brokers, agents and vessels.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on tanker vessel operations experience with exposure to oil/chemical tankers. Experience in PDA/FDA review, bunker coordination, voyage expense verification, laytime calculation and working closely with vessels, ship managers and charterers will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of assigned oil tanker vessels, ensuring that safety, compliance, and performance standards are met.
  • Coordinate agency appointments and review Proforma Disbursement Accounts and Final Disbursement Accounts in line with owner requirements.
  • Liaise with ship managers, charterers, brokers, port agents, bunker suppliers, and vessels on voyage orders, vessel itineraries, port calls, and operational matters.
  • Monitor vessel movements, voyage progress, vessel performance, and operational updates to ensure smooth voyage execution.
  • Coordinate with ship managers to ensure that Q88 and HVPQ records are properly updated and maintained.
  • Provide operational guidance and support to vessels on compliance, safety, and owner-related requirements.
  • Coordinate bunker planning with ship managers, charterers, brokers, and bunker suppliers to ensure proper bunker supply arrangements.
  • Attend vessels when required to oversee operational matters, maintenance progress, and compliance with owner and safety standards.
  • Maintain proper records of voyage expenses and verify invoices received from agents, suppliers, and other third parties.
  • Support charterers and brokers with port information and operational details for prospective vessel employment.
  • Guide and support the post-fixture team in calculating voyage laytime, charter hire, freight, and related voyage claims.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of invoices and supporting documents before submission to the Accounts department for settlement.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve voyage-related issues in a timely and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in tanker vessel operations, voyage operations, ship management, chartering support, or a related shipping operations function.
  • Good understanding of tanker voyage operations, port agency matters, bunker coordination, vessel performance monitoring, and voyage documentation.
  • Familiarity with Q88, HVPQ, PDA/FDA review, laytime calculation, charter hire, freight, and voyage expense verification would be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in reviewing operational documents, voyage expenses, invoices, and compliance-related records.
  • Able to work independently and has good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
