Role Summary

The OpenShift Virtualization / KVM Platform Engineer will support the administration, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization and KVM environments. The role involves monitoring platform performance, troubleshooting issues, supporting upgrades and lifecycle activities, maintaining security and compliance, and assisting with automation to ensure a stable and reliable production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Administration

  • Manage and maintain Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization and KVM platforms.
  • Perform regular health checks and monitoring of the virtualization platform.
  • Monitor VM performance, CPU, memory, storage, and resource utilization.
  • Create, configure, migrate, and decommission Virtual Machines (VMs).
  • Create, migrate, optimize, and decommission Virtual Machines (VMs).
  • Monitor and improve VM performance.
  • Manage VM workload placement and resource allocation.
  • Troubleshoot OpenShift, KVM, VM, and virtualization issues.
  • Support and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
  • Perform Linux patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Handle incidents, changes, problems, and root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Create and maintain automation scripts using Ansible.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of relevant infrastructure and platform administration experience.
  • Hands-on experience supporting OpenShift Virtualization and/or KVM environments in production.
  • Understanding of VM provisioning, migration, and resource management.
  • Experience in Ansible and automation.
