The company operates industrial wastewater treatment facilities and focuses on safe, efficient, and compliant operations.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced WWTP Process Engineer to manage and optimize industrial and hazardous wastewater treatment processes. The role focuses on plant operations, process troubleshooting, treatment optimization, technical evaluation, and EHS compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and optimize industrial and hazardous wastewater treatment systems.
  • Manage treatment processes including: Physico-chemical: Lamella Clarifier, DAF, CAF. Advanced Oxidation: Fenton, micro-electrolysis, electro-catalytic oxidation, ozonation, UV photocatalytic oxidation. Biological: UASB, CSTR, activated sludge, MBR. Tertiary / Polishing: MBR and RO.
  • Adjust process parameters based on changes in wastewater characteristics such as COD, BOD, SS, oil & grease, and toxicity.
  • Evaluate new wastewater streams and recommend suitable treatment and pretreatment processes.
  • Plan and conduct jar tests, bench-scale tests, and pilot trials to assess treatment feasibility.
  • Analyse test data and provide recommendations for process improvement and operational decisions.
  • Troubleshoot effluent non-compliance, biological inhibition, membrane fouling, and process instability.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Prepare and maintain SOPs, process parameters, and technical reports.
  • Guide technicians and laboratory staff on sampling, testing, and process adjustments.
  • Participate in government inspections, customer audits, and technical discussions.
  • Ensure safe operation of chemical, advanced oxidation, biological, and membrane treatment systems.
  • Participate in Risk Assessments (RA) and Management of Change (MOC) reviews.
  • Ensure operations comply with EHS requirements and wastewater discharge standards.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or above in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial or hazardous wastewater treatment.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following is preferred: Advanced oxidation processes such as Fenton, electrochemical, ozone, or UV. Biological treatment systems including anaerobic, aerobic, and MBR.
  • Able to independently perform process evaluation, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of wastewater parameters and their impact on treatment performance.
  • Competent in bench-scale testing, process trials, and data analysis.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with operations, laboratory teams, technicians, and management.
  • Strong technical judgement and problem-solving skills, particularly under abnormal operating conditions.
  • Comfortable working in a plant-based, hands-on operational environment.

Important: Candidates must have relevant industrial or hazardous wastewater treatment experience with practical exposure to plant operations, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
