The posting
This is a temporary position with an anticipated duration of 6 months. Typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Dietitian Manager, the dietitian screens and assesses participant nutritional status for St. Paul’s PACE (SPP) participants. Uses pertinent data to plan and implement appropriate nutrition interventions and communicates the same to the interdisciplinary team to ensure the nutritional needs of the participants are met. Performs nutritional assessment and provides nutritional education for St. Paul’s PACE participants requiring interventions. Assists with and helps to coordinate serving of meals and monitors/coordinates kitchen facility to ensure standards are met. Assists with coordination with contracted meal services to ensure meals meet the needs of the St. Paul’s PACE participants. Provides education to other health care professionals as appropriate.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education: Baccalaureate or advanced degree from an accredited college with major studies in food and nutrition or related field. Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) as confirmed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Must be 18 years of age or older. Experience: Minimum of 1 year’s experience working with a frail or elderly population both individually and in groups required.
Skills and Knowledge:
Working knowledge of physical, mental and social needs of frail older adults. Effective skills in assessment of nutritional needs of frail older adults. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team, as well as independently. Effective organizational skills. Basic computer skills.
