Position: Underwriter Political Violence, Terrorism & War

Location: London

Reporting to: CEO

Overview

We are proud to be representing a highly profitable, staff-owned specialist insurance group that is recognised as a leader in its specialty lines and now expanding into Political Violence, Terrorism & War. This is a rare opportunity to join a lean, high-performance team with an outstanding track record of growth, profitability, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite profitable Political Violence, Terrorism & War risks in line with the company's underwriting strategy and appetite.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Lloyd's accredited brokers, and A+ rated capacity providers in London and internationally.
  • Attract, and manage quality quota-share capacity.
  • Utilise the company's proprietary data analytics to support evidence-based, disciplined underwriting.
  • Ensure compliance with delegated authority agreements and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop new products and capture opportunities in emerging markets.
  • Drive profitable growth of the Political Violence, Terrorism & War portfolio, complementing the company's wider specialty offering.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven track record in underwriting Political Violence, Terrorism & War.
  • Strong broker and market relationships in London and internationally.
  • Ability to attract, retain, and grow underwriting capacity.
  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Analytical, comfortable using data models and tools to inform decisions.
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive, and committed to building a long-term profitable book.
