The posting

NAFFCO Group is looking for a detail-oriented and organised Planning Engineer to support the planning and delivery of fire-rated doors and hardware projects. The successful candidate will coordinate project requirements, production schedules, materials and delivery timelines to help ensure work is completed efficiently and in line with customer specifications.

This role involves working closely with sales, engineering, procurement, production, quality and logistics teams. The ideal candidate can interpret technical information, monitor progress and communicate potential delays or constraints clearly.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of planning activities, manages competing priorities effectively and maintains accurate project and production records in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Review project orders, specifications and delivery requirements for fire-rated doors and associated hardware.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, production schedules and delivery milestones.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to align engineering, procurement, manufacturing, inspection and dispatch activities.
  • Monitor progress against agreed schedules, identify potential delays and recommend practical recovery plans.
  • Keep project stakeholders informed of progress, priorities and changes to plans.

2. Materials & Production Coordination

  • Coordinate material requirements with procurement and stores teams to support production schedules.
  • Review bills of materials, product specifications and hardware schedules for completeness and consistency.
  • Track material availability and flag shortages, long lead-time items or other supply constraints.
  • Work with production teams to plan capacity, sequencing and resource requirements.
  • Support the resolution of planning issues that may affect production flow or delivery commitments.

3. Technical & Project Documentation

  • Review approved drawings, schedules and project documentation to understand product configurations and scope.
  • Coordinate the timely circulation of current drawings, specifications and revisions to the relevant teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of project plans, changes, production status and delivery dates.
  • Coordinate with engineering and quality teams to help ensure planned products and hardware align with approved project requirements.
  • Support the preparation of planning reports, progress updates and project documentation.

4. Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track order status from project release through production completion and dispatch.
  • Prepare regular updates on schedule performance, outstanding actions and delivery risks.
  • Analyse planning data to identify bottlenecks, recurring delays and opportunities to improve workflows.
  • Escalate issues promptly and work with relevant teams to agree corrective actions.
  • Maintain reliable planning data in ERP systems and other approved tracking tools.

5. Ownership, Collaboration & Delivery

  • Take ownership of assigned planning activities and follow actions through to completion.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal teams, suppliers and project stakeholders.
  • Manage changing priorities while maintaining accurate records and attention to detail.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively, particularly where plans, requirements or delivery dates change.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in planning processes, reporting and coordination.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Planning, Supply Chain or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in planning, production coordination or project scheduling, preferably in manufacturing, construction products or building materials.
  • Experience with fire-rated doors, door hardware, joinery or related products is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, product specifications, bills of materials and project schedules.
  • Knowledge of production planning, material coordination and delivery tracking processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using ERP or production planning systems.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and time-management skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Clear communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, identify risks and follow through on agreed actions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
